Deleting my Comments on Locked Posts

What I find extremely agregious and annoying on this (so called) community forum, is the seemingly entirely arbriartry ability of Admin? (presumably) to lock posts on a whim.

I have been dsicussing a subject which has in no way/shape/form been resolved - despite two answers having been flagged as "solved" (incorrectly), and now the post has been locked - zero notice or reason, just fully locked so no one can reply or post answers any more.

Not only is this entirely counter to the whole concept of a forum - you do not just silence people at a forum, it is also a totally redundant approach when indeed solutions that get flagged as correct are not actually correct.

If you are arbritrality locking posts, I want to remove my contributions and comments on that entire post. Please advise how I do that.

you can't.  even admins can't delete messages (though we can move them where they're not publically visible).

what's the link to the thread you're discussing?

@LinSims, thank you.

@NathanOdellin, it looks to me like many of your posts are relevant and helpful.  they just appear (to me) to become less helpful when you're berating microsoft.  which is relevant, but they're not particularly helpful on an adobe forum.

as @davesmnand @jane-e suggest, taking those comments to a microsoft forum would be more appropriate and possibly helpful.

imo, keeping your comments (they're mostly useful and violate no forum rules) and locking the thread (because it's tilting more anti-microsoft than constructive, and it's an old thread) are both appropriate.

Thanks for your opinion, I just wanted to know how I delete my comments. But apparently that is not even an option. Anyway it is good to know that moderators can lock posts whenever they choose, and we are denied the abilty to moderate our own contributions. Duly noted.

you're welcome.

p.s. i think these might be helpful and they're free, https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail/file-viewer-plus-4/9NMSDKXC9R3F?hl=en-us&gl=us  and https://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm though neither integrates with ie, if that's imporant.

Most moderators will add a note saying that they are locking the thread and why. You can always start a new post when one post is locked.

I saw nothing wrong with your posts, although I did smile at your comment to Dave about the penny dropping. It's not a phrase we use where I live, so I had to look it up, and it most definitely does not apply. 😊 I am 90% macOS (10% Windows) and learned about codecs from Dave's posts here in these forums.

The OP is allowed to mark answers that are correct for her/him. If they are not correct for you, then start a new thread.

In this case, though, it is not an Adobe issue. It is a Microsoft issue and is better discussed on the Microsoft forums. Adobe cannot write code for Microsoft Windows or macOS.

I hope this helps,

Jane

Marking answers as correct - when in fact those answers are entirely incorrect, and then the post becomming locked is a really pointless way to operate a forum. People come to a forum to search for global solutions. They do not come on a forum to look for an answer that suits an individual and no one else.

One of the answers that the OP marked as correct, states that you can view Ai files in windows file explorer and not PSD files. This is categorically incorrect, you cannot preview either. The second answer pertained to using Bridge. This is also not a correct answer to the OP question: How can I view Ai and PSD files in Windows File explorer.

Codecs indeed work. The wider point being discussed is that Windows need to implement a codec. Discussing this as we have been on an Adobe platform - a platform with presumably global influence, the hope is that feedback makes it's way to Microsoft and development teams finally decide to do something about this issue that has been going on for years.

We have been posting the same questions on MS forums for years. Nothing happens, hence why we come here - to apply consumer pressure. You would also think that Adobe would see that this is a serious ongoing complaint and keep applying pressure on Windows to fix this ridiculous problem, as it ultimately makes their products seriously annoying to use on a Windows platform - hence why I use the phrase "Penny Dropping" with Dave.

He thinks we are all pointlessly misguided by airing Windows grievances on Adobe's forum. I disagree.

I hope this helps clarify.

You can air grievances about Windows here all day and all night, should you wish, but Microsoft developers will neither see them or address them.

Incidentally, I've no idea who locked the other thread.
