yes, the reply was in a different thread, which was linked. Hence why I've said "there," not "here."

probably because you're not waiting more than a few seconds, before it appears under that. It shows up eventually.

The chat system is operated by liveperson.net - if you have that domain blocked by a hosts file or browser ad-blocking tool then the 'closed' message will appear instead.

it WAS, yesterday morning, but I've unblocked it.

Or, if you still get the "closed" message, what happens if you click on 'Chat' anyway?
