i have gotten e-mails  from this discussion group, but i do not know how to add a reply to the original post  that someone has responded to my question. they are asking for more information but i do not know how to add my reply to chain of the discussion.

ok thank you jim, for your reply. i did not see the blue reply arrow before you pointed it out to me.  Thanks... now i am learning some.  I think that i have solved my original question regarding lightroom NOT finding an image file,when i went to DEVELOP. When you copy ohoto files from a CD ,  you must first place the image files into a folder,within the same area of you other pictures. after you do that with the windowds explorer, you then open Lightroom and add the images from the newly creater file to the Lightroom catalog, by using add. NOW it works

recap

images  from CD to C drive,  then images from C drive file to Lightroom via the ADD function. Now the images are in the catalog and Lightroom can now point to each image as needed.
