How do I recover all the screen real estate wasted by the vertical frame on the right in this new forum design?
-- Roy Zider
Personally, I did it with the AdBlockPlus add-on for Firefox, See this thread:

If you've ever used that add-on before, you'll be up and running in seconds.
If you've never used it, it won't take you long to figure it out.

station_one yes -- exactly what I want to do. I've posted a reply to that thread, inquiring about add-on for Internet Explorer. Thank you.

Maybe this is that excuse to get that wonderful new 30" monitor you have been craving. You know you want it...

Not sure if you're addressing the OP, but in my case I prefer dual monitors that give me over 4,000 pixels horizontaly and can be set at a slight angle to each other, so as to minimize head movements.

I was, but I'm with you, actually.
So maybe we both each need dual 30" monitors?

Whoaa -- dual 30" monitors. Star Trek command center. Indeed, in my dreams.
My son got a huge (horizontal) monitor from Santa for Christmas. More real estate, to be sure, but not better resolution Still 85 to 100 dpi or so. Santa, however, is still using what I think has been for all practical purposes the standard monitor for a long time: 12x9 = 15" diagonal, 1024 x 768, 85 dpi. Immediate identification of web designs that ignore this canonical target -- like this new forum layout.
Maybe one of these days the monitor manufacturers will get to fax resolution -- 200 dpi -- at which point I'll spring for a major upgrade.

That's easy: Hire some competent interface designers.
