Make announcements before the actual event, please...

It just keeps getting better and better... If you're going to do a "scheduled maintenance" on the site and it might prevent people from logging in, post the announcement BEFORE you do it, not when it's nearly over.

Scheduled = Planned in advance!

Well, from Collins English Dictionary:

schedule ... ~vb (tr.) 7. to make a schedule of or place in a schedule. 8. to plan to occur at a certain time.

It could be 7 in the sense: included into the schedule of unplanned/unforeseen events, only it sounds better, until someone comes to think about it.

Hi all

I think the login issue was unexpected.

As for the "Scheduled outage" page you saw, It has been my own experience that this is kind of a default page you see when things go awry. Kind of like a custom 404 page you see on the web.

Cheers... Rick

It was not a page. It's a "sticky" at the top of the forums home-page.

Oh, darn.... you just dashed my hopes! Saw that sticky & thought "Oh, they've resolved the logout issue! They're telling people!" and I was pleased. Appears it I was not only wrong, but the note is more-or-less useless! Sigh-sie-poosies.

Hi there

The "Sticky" was the Jive announcement feature. Indeed it was updated at the time of the event to alert folks there were issues.

Cheers... Rick

The sticky says we are experienceing issues, not that it is planned maintenance.

The error page (if you try to login during the problem)  is a generic Adobe error page that says "planned maintenance".   Hosts cannot control what Adobe's redirect pages look like.

Is it does. Read it.

I didn't say anything about any error page.

To anybody on the forums side of things at least. It may have been

expected by some people in the infrastructure group or something.

I will try to find an RSS feed with maintenance announcements and hook

that into one of the pages here, but I don't think Adobe is used to that

kind of transparency (and scrutiny) in its maintenance operations.
