Reload time VS Bookmarked time

It seems like it takes maybe 15 seconds to reload a page vs 3 sec. to click on the boookmark and load the page.  Of course there is no way to test this as each load time is slightly different.  But do others notice this disparity?

Perhaps the reload of a page has to go through more processes that a straight address request?

Yes. Search for the keywords "cache" and "speed" in this forum.
