Type of Users

With the latest update (which I like overall) to the forums I have noticed there are three types of users. Community Member, Community Professional, and Adobe Employee. While I understand all three I am a bit curious as to what is the distinguishing factor for  a Community Member from a Community  Professional?

Community Professionals are developers and product specialists who are part of the Adobe ACP program - see http://www.adobe.com/communities/professionals/

Our roles extend beyond these forums, but many of us contribute on here on a voluntary basis.

I wasn't aware that there was any activity in the Community Professional program any more.  I certainly haven't seen anyone made an ACP in recent history.

In the past, ACP membership opened once a year, in January. But I believe they are now going to also have an enrollment period in June. ACP, though, seems more geared towards the developer community. We may introduce an additional level of recognition for forum participants later this year.

Why wouldn't Noel qualify as a developer?  His company develops and sells Photoshop-related software.

I didn't say that he didn't qualify. I'm not involved with the ACP program and can't say who should be in or out. I don't even know if he has ever applied.

The way I read the pages (and I admit it's been a while), I came away with the feeling that ACP induction was by invitation.

Anyway, not a big deal, though now ACP members get that pretty white background to their posts here.

The ACP program is very active, but in contrast to the program name, the general public don't see much of what we do. A lot of our work with product teams and the developer ecosystem happens in private, for obvious reasons. We represent Adobe in the developer community, but it's up to the individual as to how he or she engages with the public. It may be via blogs, in books, giving talks to user groups - there'll be a bunch of us at CS6 launch events for example - and ACPs are of course heavily-involved in MAX, but there's no rule that we have to spend time on these forums.

Community member is just that. You could be Employee, Professional Developers/Product specialists, or users of varing skill levels
