The very best wishes to everyone on this short and rather dark day of sun (I missed the old discussion and it felt like the right time to start over).

Light will grow again from this day on, up here in the northern half, and light will start to wane in the southern half.

Many important celebrations will occur over the next quarter, including New Year for most (of those without a wandering one).

'Tis a dark and dreary day here in the Pacific North Wet, but holiday plans are afoot, so will see lots of family in a few days... good wishes back to you!

Dropped by this Forum regarding something else altogether but:

A "Happy Whatever!" right back at you!

May your whatever-days be full of whatever or something similar or different, depending on circumstances and conditions.

Yesterday was one of the (very) old celebration days, under many different names in different languages and with different meanings, good gaining strength over evil and New Year included.

T(he day after t)omorrow is also under many different names in different languages but with a single meaning.

In eight days most will celebrate New Year under many different names, but many only have it as a secondary one; and it is only there because someone long forgotten decided to completely mass up an (already rather messy) old calendar.

What may very well be the oldest New Year will be in three months less a day.

We are halfway through the common (but only primary to about one third) New Year now.

Quiet night planned here... ribeye on the bbq in about an hour, then watch the ball drop in NY City when it's 9AM here... no driving, so I may even have a second glass of wine
