How do I get from forum overview to it's discussions?

E.g

From:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex/flex_general_discussion?view=overview

To:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/flex/flex_general_discussion?view=discussions

Right now I edited the view= parameter to discussions to get there. I couldn't find a link to get to discussions, except browse -> discussions which didn't work cause it switched back to some base forum not the one I was in.

You have two routes:

  • When reading a thread, click the " > Dicsussions" breadcrumb at the top of the page.
  • On the Overview page, click "More" at the bottom right of the Recent Discussions pod.

Thanks Dave,

I didn't realize that there is such a small invisible button "more" at the end of recent discussions. Guess now when you've told me I do. Terrible design, the most imporant buttons are hidden and this overview page is pretty useless for me.

FM Flame,

I believe all, or most, bookmark the relevant forum(s), using the Discussion page of course, and take it from there.

In that connexion, at least for the busiest forums, it is worth adding

#/?per_page=100

to the URL before bookmarking because it gives you 100 threads per page, normally enough to cover a whole day in even the busiest forums. Without this you will often have to go to the next pages.

First thing I do in every forum. The other views are useless.

If only the URLs were consistent:

Dreamweaver "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver

Lightroom "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/lightroom

Photoshop "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/general

Photoshop Elements "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements?view=discussions

Cloud "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/creative_cloud?view=discussions

Creative Suites Windows "Discussions": http://forums.adobe.com/community/creativesuites/creativesuites_windows?view=discussions

They are; you must have marked these forums' Discussions tabs as default at some time (only mods and MVPs can see these tabs now).  When I go to any of the forums you have linked (without the view=discussions suffix), I end up in Overview mode.

The view mode is inferred into the menu once you've entered a space with the view mode specified in the URL - so if you click on this link:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements?view=discussions

and hover on the "Photoshop Elements" breadcrumb at the top of the page, you'll see it points to the discussions table.

But if you click this link:

http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop_elements

and hover over the same breadcrumb, now it refers to the overview page.

All the spaces should now have the overview page as the default landing option, unless you have bookmarked otherwise. The overview page contains important information that we can't display elsewhere, so it's important that new users are shown that version first. If you want to bookmark the discussions table that's your choice, but you might lose out on content - for example the discussions table won't tell you about new documents, FAQs, etc.
