Misterious scroll bar

In the messages from one participant, I am getting a misterious horizontal scroll bar as seen here:

Bar.jpg

More curiously, I see the bar in Vista/Explorer 7, but not in Mac/Firefox 2. The poster affirms not to be doing anything special, and says he is using Firefox on Vista. Anyone else? Any ideas?

Just taken screenshot, just to show I'm not imagining things. And fully scrolled to the far right, two show that there is nothing there to justify the scroll bar.

Odd. I don't see any scroll bars in Jay's post either (using Firefox 3.0.8, Windows Vista).

Duplicate message, I don't know why. And now I'm getting the bar as well (Vista/Explorer 7):

You're getting it because the image is wider then the box it's in.

It doesn't look like you are running a script, but if you are, can you test it with it turned off? I still didn't see anything in the post (like a wide image) that might create it, script or no, but it's one thing to eliminate as a possibility anyway.

If that were the case in general, we'd all get it wouldn't we?

Just a thought but, what happens if you up the resolution on your monitor Claudio?

The images in Claudio's posts # 5 and 6 are wider then the box, and do have scroll bars as a result.

Now that is curious. I saw them last night  in my messages 5 and 6, and I am seeing them today.

By the way, when I want to insert an image, I receive the following message:

Maximum file size: 2.0 MB. Also, please note that images larger then 450px wide or 600px tall will be scaled to fit those limits in your content.

(my emphasis), which doesn't seem to be happening, because if my images would have been scaled down to fit the limits, they wouldn't have been wider, and no scroll bar would have been necessary.

Yes, I had already clarified this point in my message #12.

Dorothy, I don't see any image in the message. I have not modified anything in this site and I am not using any script; my type changes are done manually.

You are getting the scroll bar because there is an invalid image link in the post that FF just ignores but IE 7 does not.

If you look at the post in html mode you will find this invalid image link:

<p><img id="kosa-target-image" src="#" style="position: absolute; visibility: hidden; z-index: 2147483647; left: 1133px; top: -11px;" /></p></body>

Curt, I seem to have lost the buttons to choose text or html view, but your explanation sounds very good. I checked the image Bar2 that I posted before giving me also a scroll bar, and it is indeed too wide. I am testing now with a 450 px wide version of the same:

Bar2s.jpg

Addition 1: No scroll bar now; it seems you are right.

Addition 2: After posting, I am been taken back to the OP and not to my just posted message; a most inconvenient step backwards.

Addiition 3: the software is eliminating the blank lines after full stops in my messages.

Message was edited by: Claudio González.Reason: additions.

Claudio, only hosts can look at others posts in edit mode. It is very likely in the source code, so you could probably see it there.

I was refering to the "Toggle HTML Mode" button, but it seems it is only provided in the box for posting messages. I thought it was always available, but it seems I was wrong.

Ah! Thanks for that, Curt. Should have thought to check html mode as well. Will remember in the future.
