If we have to have combined forums, can we at least get a couple of nice icons that people can click to insert into their post to show which OS it's for?

Something like:

http://tbn3.google.com/images?q=tbn:eyxr4FsPJrJscM:http://www.yourlibrary.ca/findall/online/tutorials/setuphotmail/windows_icon.jpg or http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:hKleev7FiFOtRM:http://www.thinkmac.net/blog/images/icons/finder_icon.png maybe?

We're getting lots of confusion in the ID General forum, with people recommending SSE register fixes for Mac problems or "clear your caches" for Windows problems. If there was some icon people could insert right at the beginning of the message it might help.

Actually it would be even better if it could be inserted into the subject line!

Er, just to make sure this doesn't descend into holy wars, my point here is simply that people are recommending OS-specific fixes for the wrong OS. I actually do think that there may be something to be said for combining experts from both forums. I am already seeing lots of good posts by people I had no clue existed because they were limiting their posts to the Windows side like I was limiting my posts to the Mac side.

If we had an icon that could be easily posted in each question though, it would help limit the issue of recommending fixes for the wrong platform.

This would help in the Lightroom Forum, too, where it has always been Mac and PC together, but aswers are often OS specific. If not camera specific.

Might be a tough one to impliment? Don't know how much the tool bar can have customized functions. Interesting thought tho, but it will be one of those that can be brought up after the dust settles a bit and things stabilize into more comfortable patterns.

/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/1267/apple_icon_gray_small.jpg is better than http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:hKleev7FiFOtRM:http://www.thinkmac.net/blog/images/icons/finder_icon.png
