2021 Apple Mac Mini 16gb Ram x Premiere

Hi everyone-

I am looking to upgrade to a Mac Mini 16gb Ram 256 ssd for video editing but am not sure if that is the best choice. I usually shoot in 4k or 1080hd. I am currently operating from a surface book 2 8gb ram. The video playback is laggy on the Surface and I am looking for something that isn't crazy expensive but can get the job done effortlessly without any issues... any advice would be so helpful!!

That Mac Mini with the M1 chip should work better than your current Surface Book 2, even when the macOS is running Premiere Pro with Rosetta 2 emulation. The cheaper versions of the Surface Book 2 may not have had a discrete GPU at all, and I do know for a fact that the integrated graphics inside an 8th-Gen low-power Intel CPU is lousy in performance even by the GPU performance standards of its day.

Thank you for this. I am thinking of purchasing. The Surface isn't all that efficient unfortunately.
