In NLE, if you store original source footage on one HDD and import the footage into Premiere's media cache folder located on another HDD, can you then remove the HDD that holds the source footage and complete the project? Or will Premiere continue to rely on source files at some stage in the process?
Also, if substantially all of the raw footage is to be included in the completed project, (i.e. you are not editing out much data), will the size of the media cache files for that project approximate the size of the original sources files?

You can edit with files offline, but they will not be visible in the Program Monitor or the Playback Monitor if you remove the drive on which the media is located. So, yes, you need to have the drive connected..

The size of the Media Cache Files are more dependent upon the effects applied to the clip.
