Hello!

I want to get a new MacBook and wonder what the best configuration would be for working with Premiere and After Effects.

For me it is important to stay mobile, since I work and travel a lot, therefore I want a MacBook more than a PC. I'm also a Mac user since around 8 years, therefore I don't want to switch to another OS.

I do a lot of video editing in Premiere (mostly full HD proxies) and a lot of masking/retouching in After Effects. Here I want to work with the raw footage (often 4K), so the configuration for After Effects is more important I guess.

These would be the settings of the new MacBook:

2,3 GHz 8-Core (Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost 4,8 GHz) with an option to upgrade to 2.4 GHz 8-Core with 5,0 GHz Turbo Boost. Does that make a big difference?

32 GB RAM

Radeon Pro 560X, 4GB GDDR5 or Radeon Pro Vega 16, 4GB HBM2 or Vega 20, 4GB HBM2

512GB or 1TB SSD

So my main questions are: what is more important for Premiere and AE, CPU or GPU?

Is it wiser to choose the best graphic card from the 3 offered or take the standard one and get myself an even more powerful, external one?

is 512GB enough, when I'm working with additional external drives? What's the best solution for media cache etc?

Thanks for your help!
