Building Recommended Editing Systems

Hello all !

Here are the system requirements I am planning for :

Board : MB MSI Z270 Gaming M3

CPU i7 7700K 3.6GHZ 8M

VGA ZOTAC GTX 1080 8GB DDR5

2x RAM DDR4 16GB

SSD M2 480GB Patriot Ignite SATA 3 6GB

Are these compatible so far ?

Looks nice.  Add sufficiently sized Project, Cache, Media and Export disks and you're golden.

Why in the world would you specify a SATA 3 M.2 drive like that and waste a good M.2 connector that could be used with a PCIe Gen 3 x4 M.2 device that would be 4x the read/write performance.

If I were building that motherboard/memory/CPU/GPU I would have one standard SATA 3 smaller (probably 256 GB) for the boot drive and then add a second SSD of the M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4 variety like a Samsung 960 EVO for all your project files and then an optional hard disk drive or two to backup and archive old projects.
