Hi folks,
I am in the time consuming process of shopping for a laptop that can handle video editing and basic to medium After Effects tasks . I need something reliable but not extremly expensive.
I've been eying:
1. A laptop that comes with a AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor and a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.
2. A laptop that comes with an Intel Core I7-9750H and NVIDIA GeForce GTX1650 4GB GPU.
Now, I've been researching a lot and sometimes all seems clear while at other times I just don't know what to choose.
Any advice is welcome. I am open to other options in regards to CPUs and GPUs as long as they are not the most expensive.
What should I prioritize for my usage? CPU or GPU?
Thanks,
Alex

If you can edge out a laptop with an Intel processor and the RTX 2060, I think you'll be very happy. The Asus ROG Strix Scar III is a very powerful, easily upgradable, and reasonably priced option.
After Effects can only render a single frame at a time, unless you buy third party plugins, because Adobe decided to remove Multi Frame Rendering for no good reason. This means you want a processor with a high clock speed, rather than a whole bunch of cores.
With Intel processors, you can also export with hardware acceleration in Premiere.

Thank you for your input. There are options of laptop that have Intel CPU and RTX 2060 GPU.
In your opinion, what would be the minimum amount of clock speed?

A word of advice: figure out what how you intend to use it now and in the near future.
For example, multiple streams of 8K video demand one kind of machine, simple HD demands a different one. And After Effects always likes as much memory as you can put in it.

That's a good point. I don't think I'll be editing 8K in the near future. 4k propably so, though I have the intention of creating proxies. Is 16gb of RAM enough, or should I go to at least 24gb?
