So my computer has just spat the dummy, does anyone know if the latest Imac will be ok for PP and cutting in 4k, or will I need  something more highly spec'd ?

Apple iMac (4.5K Retina, 24-inch, 2021) 512GB, 8-Core GPU

Many thanks

How much RAM will your planned iMac have? 8 GB or 16 GB? Those two amounts are your only choices for that 24" iMac with the M1 chip. And you must make up your mind before you purchase it since you cannot add more RAM at all later on.

Yes I think you're correct. I'm now thinking maybe I'll go with the Imac studio and use existing screens.

Going with the Mac Studio is a good move. The current M1 iMac only has the base M1 chip (although that would be OK for 4K), while the base Mac Studio has the more powerful M1 Max chip along with 32GB unified memory standard — better all around for video editing.
