GPU for CC

I recently purchased a CUK ROG Strix Scar GL703GE Gamers Notebook (Intel Core i7-8750H, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB NVMe SSD + 1TB... hoping for improved performance with Illustrator and future support of Premiere. However, I have been surprised that it has not been achieved. What do you really need as far as a graphics card to optimize for Illustrator and Premiere performance?

PrPro uses the GPU for things on the GPU Accelerated Effects list ... and those things mostly include say color correction, Warp stabilizer, things like that. For general playback or exporting it does not use the GPU except for those things on that list, and ... as the CPU/RAM/cores process things.

The recommended list of GPUs on the adobe website contains mostly Quadro, but this forum has repeatedly said that Quadros are not worth it. It also excludes popular cards like the 1050/1050Ti. What do you say about this? I was really interested in the 1050 😕

Here's the spec charts for the 1050 cards ...
All under 1,000 CUDA, and only the Ti model at the minimum 4GB of vRAM.
Here's the chart for 1060'S ...
Only the 6GB version is really usable (I'm running that at the moment) as it's the only one with more than 4GB of vRAM.
As to the general supported list, they're clearly not doing much work to update that, so I'm one of many who just don't pay attention to it. For GPU, you need a minimum of 4GB of vRAM, if Nvidia preferably somewhere over 1,000 CUDA cores, I don't know the similar spec for the AMD cards. And at least a 900 series card if not newer.
Also, unless you have a very fast 10-core processor, a 1080Ti might be overkill ... seriously. So it's a balancing act, cost versus what performance you'd actually get in the app running. Checking the Puget Systems and SafeHarbor Computing sites for info/recommendations is a good thing here.

Well I'm in discussion with Puget looking at a 9900k (8 core) or a 9940X (14 core).
The 1060 6GB sounds good. Just wanted to confirm if GPU acceleration works if the card isn't on the list?
I know GPU acceleration isn't the biggest deal, but I'm just faced with a work situation that makes an upgrade unlikely for a long time.
Also, if you don't mind what processor are you using with the 1060?
Thanks again!

That list is just a general list of one's they actually tested, and is nowhere near complete. Ignore it. Match the needed specs and you're fine.
Mine ...i7-6800k @3.4Ghz. Anything more would be overkill for that CPU/mobo/RAM setup.
I'm also looking over builds from both companies, as this winter I'll be needing to move my capabilities up seriously. And ... yea, that's gonna sting the company budget. Sigh.

Thanks Neil. Especially for being so quick to get back. Companies need to take the sting if they want to get better and faster I guess.

I continue to hold that Adobe does potential and new customers more confusion than good by having that list published at all. They really need to get rid of it completely and just list minimum NVidia, AMD, and even Intel specs for GPUs. Then call it a day.
See: just about every PC game produced since ... forever?

i highly recommend puget systems. tell them exactly what you want to do with your computer and what's important to you and they'll give you a quote. yelp them to see what their customers think.
