May need to be working with more 4K than I have to this point. Thinking it may be time to upgrade?

Not very well, I'm afraid. While a quad-core CPU with hyper-threading may have been adequate in 2015, it is behind the times in 2021. And anything GPU-wise that's older than the RTX or the GTX 16## series performs poorly in newer versions of Premiere Pro. As a result, that system barely performs half as well as even a middle-of-the-road current-generation mainstream desktop PC - and only about as well as a middling laptop PC of today.

Oh sure, make me spend more money!  🙂

But seriouisly, thanks much for the input. Pretty much as I expected. I've gotten good use from the EVOC but for some time now the apps I've been running weren't nearly as demanding as Premiere.

If I stick with Hidevolution I'm looking at their list of current offerings trying to decide what the "sweet spot" would be with respect to features and price. Willing to spend $$$ to get good performance but it always seems there's a point of dimishing returns as well in that a few hundred bucks more can only result in minimal improvement.

Any thought as to how narrow down my search? The primary use will be when traveling so I'm confining my search to notebooks:

Would also appreciate any feedback from PP users who have recently purchased a notebook that they're happy with.
