Hi i want to buy a new Notebook. I was looking for the ASUS ROG-GL702VM vs ASUS ROG-GL703GM STIX EDITION.

Wich one should i buy to work in 4k video editing (Premiere and After Effects)

I saw that the ASUS ROG-GL703GM STIX EDITION has USB 2.0 (Thats old stuff. right?)

Do you have another Notebook to recommend? I only goning to work with it.

Thank you!

You read the specs wrong on the ROG-GL703GM. It actually has four USB-A ports of up to USB 3.1 Gen 1 spec (aka USB 3.0), plus one USB-C port of up to USB 3.1 Gen 2 spec (that port is capable of throughput of up to nearly 1 GB/s in practical sequential transfers). USB 2.0 devices may be connected to either type of connector, albeit at the lower bandwidth.

Another reason to buy the GL703GM: It has a new 6-core mobile Intel CPU. The other one, the GL702VM, has only a quad-core CPU that dates back to the Skylake generation of over two years ago.

And I also thought that you mistook HDMI 2.0 for USB 2.0, in the case of the GL703GM. The GL703GM's HDMI out to an external monitor is fully HDMI 2.0 compliant. The HDMI port on the older GL702VM may only be HDMI 1.4 compliant.

First of all thank you for your help.

Are you sure? In the BH photo and video review says that it has usb 2.0 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1398352-REG/asus_gl703gm_ds74_17_3_republic_of_gamers.html

I saw that ROG GL702VM | Laptops | ASUS USA has a picture of after effects, but ROG Strix SCAR Edition | Laptops | ASUS USA  seems like a game machine.

Im trying to find the diference of VM models against GM, but i haven´t been lucky for now.

You really think GL703GM is better?

Thanks again!!!

I think that video review also confused "USB 2.0" with "USB-A". The legacy-style rectangular USB ports (there are four USB-A ports in all) are capable of full USB 3.0-class (technically, USB 3.1 Generation 1) performance.
