Hello guys,

I would like to buy a new PC setup ASAP to edit footage mainly from Phantom 4 PRO (2.7k/30fps) and Lumix G7 (1080p60fps/4k30fps) as well as some basic AE texts, logos etc... What do you think about this setup?

I know that now is not the right time to buy a new PC (especially because of GPU but I really need it). I am also a student so this is little bit on a budget.

I chose Z370 motherboard over B360 just because a big discount at local store with nice headset as a gift.

Thank you for your answers.

Best regards,

Michael

You will need a faster processor and another SSD or two more fast HDDs.

Also get double the RAM.

I second Peru Bob:

That i5-8400 CPU is only about as powerful (performance-wise) as a last-gen quad-core i7-7700 CPU. Why stop there when you can get so much better for just a little more money?

And in addition to what Peru Bob stated about needing more disks, you actually need to make that second drive an m.2 PCIe SSD such as a Samsung 970 EVO (don't get the m.2 860 EVO as that one's only a SATA m.2 SSD that may prevent any other m.2 slot from ever being used with a SATA m.2 SSD connected to the PC).

And yes, you do absolutely need at least 32GB of RAM in order to work comfortably with anything above 1080p @ 29.97.
