NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 not compatible with Premier Pro

Hi Everyone,

I just finished a chat session with Adobe Support about why Premier Pro CC keeps crashing
It finished with me being told point blank that my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card was not compatible.

Ok, I can see that the GTX 1070 is not specifically mentioned in the recommended list at Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements but it is a very capable graphics card and newer and more capable than others on that list.
I have searched these forums and there are several mentions of the 1070 but nothing that seems to just rule them out completely.
Is anyone out there using a GTX 1070 with Premier Pro CC?
Is there an earlier version that would work with the 1070?
I don't really want to have to buy a new graphics card when the 1070 is working very well with everything else I do.

Actually, it's not so much that the GTX 1070 is compatible or incompatible with Premiere; it's much more likely that the crashes are the result of the X299 (LGA 2066) platform being a lot more finicky than most other platforms. You would have experienced repeated crashes with that system even if you had used a "completely supported" GPU.

I have an i7 7800, 32ram, GTX 1070. Premiere Pro runs fine but Photoshop and After Effects show rotating brightness changes on all 4  screens. This did not happen with the 960 card I had previously. Tried many fixes, nothing worked.

Try going to NVIDIA's website and downloading older drivers for your machine. IIRC, I had this same issue with my GTX 1070 and I found that older drivers work better than newer drivers. The new drivers are usually designed for gaming so they don't always have thorough stability checks with Adobe software. Once you find a driver that works, stick with it until you absolutely have to update to fix some other tech issue

Let me tell you that My computer is almost a clone of yours with just 16 RAMS of memory more. I kept getting Premier Pro "Crash Reports" all the time. So, how did I resolve the issue: 1) Update NVIDIA graphic card driver manually (if your Window doesn't do it automatically). This seems to fix the issue. Even when the driver in the Official NVIDIA webpage indicates the same one you have intalled at the moment. 2) Check for Memory problems. In my case, I used to get tons of "Crashj Reports" because one of my Vengeance 16Gb LPX Memory Cards was faulty. This created havoc.

 

So, go ahead and make sure your Windows 10 looks for updates automatically so you don't have to do it manually and crash in the middle of proyects or, even worse, not even start a project. And check those Memory cards. It is hard to detect if one becomes faulty or you get the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) and Stop code: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.
