Short answers:

1) You need more RAM.

2) You need more disks. (Not a partitioned single disk, but true multiple physical disks.)

If you don't perform these additions/upgrades, then your editing experience will be an exercise in frustration. The throughput of the single disk will plummet to less than 32 MB/s because it cannot handle the OS, housekeeping operations, programs, media and exports all at the same time (which Adobe requires all that at once just to run anywhere near comfortably well).

You really need 24 GB of RAM or more in that rig.

And when I said disk, I meant multiple actual disks (preferably multiple SATA 2.5" SSDs), not just a larger-capacity disk. If you go with a 1 TB HDD, you'd still have only a single HDD for absolutely everything, which would have been equally as abysmal as your current situation.

"Rig" stands for your current PC - the whole system, not just parts of it.
