Approximate Purchase Date:

ASAP subject to hard decision making and as these are £300 over budget and right before Christmas it may have to wait a bit, was hoping to get this done for Balck Friday /Cyber Monday

      Follwing the requested format....

Budget Range:

(In UK so pounds) £2750 - £3000 was the ideal, especailly with Christmas and no cash after next week till 21st dec comming up. But all the advise Im getting is pushing me over to around £3350. If Possible want it back down. but may hvae to go up to this figure.

System Usage from Most to Least Important:

CAD for modelling, 3d Printing and visual, Editing, Rendering, Encoding, 3d Animation, Graphics, Podcasting, whilst watching downloaded tv shows, lots open at once usually 2 screens plus, maybe some games but tend to avoid as then dont get other stuff done.

Software to include:

Rhino with V-ray Rendering and various addon ons,

Solidworks with Key Shot Rendering... Want also to try Maxwell Render

Adobe Premier and After Effects, ideally things like green screen work

        Looking to learn

        Autodesk Maya

        3D Studio Max

        Softimgage

        Z-Brush

        Mudbox

        Autodesk Inventor

        Vectorworks

        Google Sketchup

        Autocad

        Photoshop Illustrator and Indesign.

        Maybe some webdesign -

        Podcasting experiments with Adobe Audition

Are you buying a monitor:

Not yet... tryin to keep down budget, can get later will use my ultra hi def 40" Samsung TV for moment till can get a 2nd or 3rd monitor/

Also planning on getting/building a raid 1 mirror pair of Seagate Barracuda Pro 4 tb drives when I get the cash later and online storage backup.

Do you need to buy OS:

      Already in the build

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:

At the moment been looking to have a custom build at PC Specialist. Whilst have dealth with replacing hard drives, DVD drives, Graphics Tablets, RAM, software before etc am soewhat nervous about ***ing up the processor, power and motherboard and around £3000 thats some expensive balls ups. But am curious how much I could save and where I could go for parts or suppliers with better deals. Most likely with some supervision help would do OK by wary of risk as no fall back cash.

Also concerned about warrantees given how much computers go wrong.

Parts Preferences: Everyoen has said to go for the quadro 4000 as opposed to 2000 and mostly been pushed away from more powerful Games card to more accurate Quadro cards thouhs is there a difference between Nvida and PNY?

Overclocking:

Maybe Never done it and looking for somethging long lastign and reliable not burn out and replace.

SLI or Crossfire:

Maybe future, Im struggling to get this so onus grpahcis cards are not on cars for a long time but would like the option in the future

Your Monitor Resolution:

Not relevant at present will look into secondary montirs later

Additional Comments:

Quieter PC preferred. Whilst a cool looker is welcomed thats not its primary purpose to show off to mates, plus its in my bedroom, a disco light if left to render at night is not good for sleep.

What is important is expanadability, being able to fit things like water coolers, bluetooth, , easy to maintain, speed reliability, long lasting upgrading later etc.

As said trying to get budget down, ( or AMD Threadripper routes, thying to get the balance. Which of the software is single core above)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:

been held back a year and a half when I took down my portfolio as website host was extrosionist just before by i5 laptop went down perminentaly and it took months to recover much of my wrks, then monots broke then been stuck using a parents I3 laptop... Looking to get at proper grown up workstation that can do things quick and efficient.

For premiere and after effects neither of your builds are adequate, the cpu's while they are powerful they will sit mostly IDLE, After effects is  single core and premiere is badly optimized for multiple cores unless you use RED cinema  or Arri Alexa files, if you choose to learn davinci resolve than you can properly use as many cores you can throw at that software, in Adobe you are limited.

So, the fastest CPU in single core now is 9900k, that is the best CPU for antiquated software.

Ram, you need 32gb or more, HDD's for storage 1 SSD for OS, 1 NVME for cache files and 1 SSD for media files, the rest doesn't matter as performance goes.

The Ram I would be gettign later as an easy add on but the current build is scaring the wate products out of my bank blance right before Christmas.

Whats the difference between k and x processors and is there a balance processor where there is little difference between them ie a level 10 mutilcore high enough to be close to the single core level 5 kind of thing

There's where your problem lies. You see, After Effects - and to a lesser extent, Premiere Pro - rely HEAVILY on raw CPU clock speed, and don't take anywhere close to full advantage of such heavy multithreading. Unfortunately, most high-core-count CPUs have a lower lesser-core Turbo clock speed than most low-core-count CPUs, so that these instances will result in a diminishing or even elimination of the performance advantages of these high-end CPUs.
