Hello Harm,
I have a question Re tx speed in premiere pro... we have 2x offline video editing suites with beefed up 2010 12 core MacPro's - we do long form docu projects which typically run over several years of media acquisition ... the latest being a 4K project which I make HD proxy's for so we are editing in HD. I have a 64TB Raid 5 box with Areca sas card which runs wonderfully well and so far have had no need to rebuild off the back of a faulty drive. My question relates to something that I tried out the other day for fun more than anything else, I linked the project media to a usb backup drive plugged in to the original USB port on the front of the MacPro fully expecting to have all sorts of trouble with transfer speeds etc and to my utter dismay the media in long complex sequences all played perfectly at usb 30mbts tx speed.. I have a metal gfx card and running OS Mojave... now I'm scratching my head wondering why I need the super expensive high speed Areca system when I could put in a usb card and use the much cheaper usb alternatives... any advice much appreciated
warmly
Steve

Harm passed some time ago.
I've branched this to a new thread, as this was posted to a very old thread.
