What do I need more of to speed premiere pro up?

So I am not really a pc guy that understands everything. I do know the basics. A few years back I made a custom pc for premiere pro/after effects. This is what it contains

amd ryzen 7 3700x

gtx 1060 6gb

16 gb ram

I don't download junk or viruses.  But over the past year I've been editing more and I just feel like premiere pro and after effects run slower than they should. Do I need to upgrade anything? If so what should it be?

You probably need more RAM.

You can try using proxies:

What is your hard drive setup (how many, what kind, what is on each, and how full)?

Premiere Pro is known for being a little more sluggish than other NLEs and just awfully slow when it comes to rendering/exporting jobs. Here's a good comparison of different softwares. Permiere is usually the slowest except with some certain codecs.

Try upgrading RAM or live with it. Your system itself seems very solid. You're using SSDs, right?
