Hi,

I am thinking about selling my old iMac (2012) which is getting too slow and buing new piece of hardware for editing in Premiere Pro.

There are only 2 options for me - Laptop or mini PC. It is because I do not like to work at home, so I travel a lot with my van and work in different places. Mostly in my van (microbus) connected to electricity in camps.

I would like to spend about 1900-2000 USD and I have found those 2 candidates.

First one is Laptop ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501VI-GZ021T

-Intel Core i7-7700HQ (2.8GHz, TB 3.8GHz, HyperThreading) with 4 cores

-Nvidia GTX 1080 8gb

-16GB RAM DDR4

-Price for used one: 2000 USD

The second one is mini PC called MSI Trident 3 Arctic 8RD-203EU

-Intel Core i7-8700 (3.2GHz, TB 4.6GHz, HyperThreading)with 6 cores

-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5

-16GB RAM DDR4

-Price for new one: 1870 USD

Both of them are for similar price in my country (laptop is used, Mini PC is new). The Laptop is ony 130 USD more expensive than mini PC.

Pros:

MINI PC -         Better CPU

                          More Upgrading options

LAPTOP -         Better GPU

It has battery, so I can go outside.

What is better for working in Premiere pro? Is the CPU in mini PC so much better than CPU in laptop, that it is worth it? Or should I go with the laptop? What is more important for premiere pro - better GPU or better CPU?

If they are almost the same (for editing in PP), i will buy the Laptop (because it is laptop and it is comfortable). If the laptop is worse, I will rather be uncomfortable and buy the mini PC (because to be comfortable is not priority, priority is performance and investition in future and I am able to get comfortable even with the miniPC).

Thank you very much for any answer.

(and most of times I use my computer to edit 1 hour long wedding videos shot on three cameras A7s in 1080p, sometimes to edit few short music clips shot on RED, or ARRI)

Sorry for my english.
