On my system the GPU usage is about the same with or without using Mercury Trasmit enabled. Not sure if that is what you were asking.

Hi, Thank you for your answer. I wanted to know about the technology involved in Mercury Transmit and if at any point the GPU was involved or not. Since it got the term Mercury, there is a relationship with the Mercry Playback engine I suppose. Since the MPE can use CPU ( software mode ) and GPU ( hardware mode ), I wanted to have more info on how transmit react to GPU usage and take any advantage from it. Would be nice if I had an Adobe staff answer on this. As I'm thinking , since we are talking about display, the GPU of the graphic card should be used. Thank for the info by the way.

Thank you Ann. So...mercury playback engine benefit is the direct communication with the hardware ( graphic card or I/O cards ), allowing the informations from Premiere to go straight to the hardware without any second process from the OS. Right ? Thank you !

The Mercury Playback Engine will work with out a GPU. It can output all your real-time GPU effects without taking a big performance it. When in software only mode it does not seem to take a big hit on the CPU like FCPX does. FCPX on my Mac Mini has more real-time performance but when I use 3rd party hardware Premiere Pro and FCPX seem to level out. FCPX's output engine to 3rd party hardware sucks compared to Premeire Pro. Premiere Pro works better than any other NLE with 3rd party hardware. It auotmatically adjusts to the sequence settings. It even works better than DaVinci Resolve. I have videos that prove this. The Mercury Transmit made eveything seemless with no performance hit. That is why it is so awesome and that is why I use my BMD Intensity Shuttle with Premiere Pro. I think everyone should. That being said there is a setting that must be setup 100% correct for it to auto swtich to the sequence settings.
