I’ve been linking premire / after effects and using the adobe universe for the first time. In my experience, Adobe has so many unacceptable behaviors, especially if you just downloaded the workspaces. A professional video editing application should not change my colors as soon as I drag it into the workstation. It shouldn't take 9 years to render my files. My exported video shouldn't be glitching out. These are all real problems I've had.

And yes, there's definilty settings I can change and things I can set up to get it work nicely, but I've had so many issues w Adobe, I honestly don't even wanna hear it. This is why I switched to CapCut, it's free, and it doesn't have any of these annoying problems. I'd love for someone to chime in and tell me otherwise.

Did you have a chance to go through Best Practices: Editing Efficiently, Hardware recommendations for Premiere Pro and After Effects, and Long Form and Episodic Workflow Guide?

If you're editing social media-specific videos (YouTube, branded vlogs, IG Stories, etc), CapCut should work well. It might also be okay for human resources videos (hiring, training, etc.), sales pitch videos, event videos, internal communications videos, and short product marketing videos (hot-to, demos, unboxing, etc.).

The closest Adobe equivalent to CapCut would be a combination of Adobe Express (which now edits video) and Adobe Premiere Rush.

I don't think CapCut is up to the task if you're editing news and sports reporting; commercials, promos, or trailers; reality shows; fictional films or shows; documentaries; or music videos. These tend to require that some thought and consideration go into planning our workflow and determining source footage settings and edit settings based on our delivery settings. That's all Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Media Encoder, and Audition - often with a post-production team rather than one person doing it all themselves.

Premiere is a lost cause IMO. You shouldn't have to develop an entirely separate skill set as an IT tech just to be able to START working...

Until we're all editing on iPads, I'm not sure we'll be able to do away with having a mix of technical skill and creative skill - either personally or with members of our post production team.

Video editing is a field that requires training or mentoring or both. While the barriers to accessing professional video editing software have almost all but disappeared, everything else that makes pre-production, production, and post production work well is still there.
