If you like the layout

Salvo,

If you like the layout of the Resolve UI, you're most welcome to it. I know some other folks I work with who do really like it. Which is fine, different strokes & all. I've been around a ton of discussions between folks who like the UI of Resolve, Avid, AfterEffects, Mistika, Baselight, whatever ... and don't like some of other UIs. We all like things a bit differently.

However ... I detest the Resolve layout. It annoys me no end, and there is almost no ability for the user to change things. I've worked within what Resolve Studio allows, tried every control there for modding the UI. And of course up until around now you've not been able to do a full-screen "monitor out" unless you had additional BM hardware in your machine. Which I don't.

So I've been limited to at most a quarter-screen program monitor up until now. No, that was not usable. And only two screens max. Of course, Resolve also throttles WAY back what you can do with a Tangent Elements control panel. Which is a major editing tool going well past color in Premiere. In Premiere, you can even set the Audio Track mixer controls to the knobs of the Elements. Do mouse work from that panel also ... it's an amazing jack-of-all-trades editing/color/audio/effects tool in Premiere.

In Resolve, you can only do a few color things with that panel. BlackMagic does not allow the user nor Tangent to map one thing they don't allow. Of course I could spend another thousand to thirty thousand or so with BlackMagic to get ANOTHER big control panel, but it would be one that only works in Resolve and nothing else. Right.

For some things in color I do need to go to Resolve. Other than that ... I definitely prefer Premiere. But again, you're welcome to enjoy Resolve to your heart's content.

I am curious though ... I've been on the Resolve support forums when I've had troubles with Resolve, the various bugs and UI issues that app also has ... but I've never spent time trying to suggest to Resolve users that they switch to Premiere when I've been posting about issues with Resolve. Seems an odd thing to waste time doing.

you do what you want to promote yourself and your own opinions etc., Neil. I have nothing to do with your choices and who you bad mouth. Like Apple, Resolve, and don't much care about your Tangent controls either. So what ??   And whether you like it or not if something doesn't WORK for what a user is trying to do it is just human nature to suggest they look into something that might work better for them.

I really don't subscribe to all your high horse " I am great and know all the engineers and pro colorists, " and all that trash talk.

When you have to you do admit that using the tools that work is a good idea. And recently you were kind enough to let everyone know about the whole new crew in programming (that you apprently are on first name basis with so they do what YOU want )... and what's that mean ??? Someone is finally going to try to fix bugs and stop adding more pounds of you know what into a 5 pound bag ???

Keep your opinions to yourself if you can't deal with someone giving their own.

: )
