I want blob brush to merge to areas of same color. It only merges when there is nothing visible between existing are and new blob. For example i cannot fill the white gaps with blob brush so that all gray would be joined to be one area, only because black is above gray. Why would i want new area there and not them joined. When is current behaviour useful. Joining areas together takes way too much time.

Atleast it has gotten way better now. That is great. I guess I just see yellow alot in my old projects I often use for new work.

You get no yellow layers at all? Probably usually I get automatically from previous version, but they definetly have been reseted in last few years.

Disconnecting and restarting does not help. Haven't tried windows safe mode. I won't be working in windows safe mode anyway. This huge jump between those two seems so silly.

Nobody like yellow layer color. It should be disabled as one of the random automatic colors. Does anyone have solution for that? It is so obviously useless feature. It is as bad as making every 5th layer invisible by default or having red fill for every 5th text you create.

Illustrator 2024 does not have it in the preferences file anymore, but you can copy the lines from older version of illustrator preferences. It does not help the conflict during changing swatch definition. Duplicating or copying or merging has nothing to do with it. But thanks for trying.

Or I can add asdfasdf 🙂 When double-clicking on swatch, luckily the name of the swatch is active for change without extra clicks, so often rename it quickly with unique one. But it is pretty common error that asdfasdffasdf is already in use 😄

I meant something else. Let's say you have swatch that is named R=100 G=50 B=0 and you have some other swatch with whatever color name, let's say R=50 G=20 B=0. Let's say you have many objects with second swatch and you want to recolor them by adjusting the color sliders in swatch defininiton. When you happen to change the second swatch definition R=100 G=50 B=0 you get those errors about naming conflict. Even if you dont want the color be exactly same you might just slide over the named value by draging sliders or in the middle of renaming color channels manually.

It really seems that I am one of very few people who have discovered global swatches. While changing global swatch definition and name conflict comes up with already existing swatch I get conflict message 3 times. Twice immeadetly and once when I try to rename or close the swatch window. Why do I get any conflict at all? It does not fit into my mind, how is this reasonable for workflow. Can I somehow write plugin myself that renames the swatch on conflict without showing any popup or disables naming by color. It is absolutely reasonably to have multiple swatches with same color definition and I should not have automatic reflex to slam keyboard for unique swatch name ever time i start changing swatch color definition.

Hello! It is still always there. Pretty annoying. Multiple computers and different operating systems. Only thing that is same is Wacom intuos pen and touch medium. Can this wacom force Illustrator somehow use increments 1 and 3,8 and nothing between. I get more increments on eraser tool Resetting preferences does not help at this point.

Current behaviour of Adobe programs when using file locations. All actions remember their last location separately. What I would like is that when I open project in Illustrator in location A and then go work on Photoshop and open something then it already knows to go location A. If that is too much to ask then at least one program it should follow this logic. For example if I open file in location A in Indesign and want to change the linked object why does it go to the project I finished last week (last place it looked for linked object). Different levels of solutions: 1) All location in one program follow always last opened locations together. 2) All location in one program follow the location of the currently active/open file location. 3) All locations in all programs follow last used global location wherever I opened it. Even script would helpful that would change all adobe software main directory for a time being. I see juggling in the all file menus time consuming for everybody. 10 seconds here and there prolly amounts to millions of euros lost globally annually. Are there any solutions what even slightly make this easier? Some setting in program preferences?

Typing in Illustrator, all symbols that are supposed to come while Alt Gr key is pressed are not working in Illustrator. Most commonly i notice it wehen I try to type š key. Now I wanted to type € sign. @ and everything else not happening either. It has been a problem for a long time. This is very silly situation when I have to write these letters in notepad and copy paste it into Illustrator. It used to nothing at all. Now it activates Alt+Ctrl shortcuts. No third party plugins. No other program does that. Windows 11. Illustrator 17 and 18

Why are you talking about preferences? It is not a bug. It is just terrible feature I have to deal every time I open old projects. Atleast 30 sec wait time for every linked object that used to be location on a drive that has different name now. If you have business and you change name of the drive and have 100 files and 3 linked per file then resaving them loses you hours of idle time. It so pointless. Add cancel button to this terrible feature.

I have loading screen popping up that I cannot cancel. It says "Verifying access to ....drive name and folder ..." This drive has been renamed years ago and every old project I reopen searches for that access for full minute. It happens multiple times. I try to relinked it - Illustrator:" let's see if this old drive has suddenly reappeared and then you can continue your work" - again 1 minute waiting. Add cancel button atleast. I don't ever see that again. How I do that?

That is only temporary solution. Why not make Illustrator realize that that directory is unavailable and stop searching for it like 2 minutes. Why I have to wait for nothing? Why cant it realize that it can't be found. It happens now with absolutely every project that is older than the new external drive. Sum on lost working minutes is staggering.

Please upvote the problem on the uservoice post below. Illustrator basically has no eraser tool for lines at the moment and needs one. It simplifying lines when erasing is as absurd if in Photoshop you erase pixels and it always displaces pixels somewhere outside erasing area. It is not a vector math problem. I installed newest Illustrator and I got windows poping up advertising new feathures. They do not always go away. For exmple - Mocku(up) Beta. I have already seen this one before, why show it to me again? I know that is my own fault that I got curious and diverged from the rule of never installing newest Illustrator if you want bug free work environent.

Not that this conflict alert is absurd enough, now Illustrator does it twice. I close the conflict warning and then it opens once more. When I make new swatch with a color that already exist, it has no problem adding uniqe number behind name and no warning, but as soon as you reach the conflict by changing global swatch definition and reach the conflict then it loses its mind. Why layers can have same names but not swatches?

I got new idea. I can create very long dummy text that always sits at the end of my content. So every time I am out of the pages I can autoflow like 20 new pages. And this dummy text is made of 20 page breaks and nothing else 😄

It is all cool, but I don't have any text to autoflow, but I still need lot of empty threaded pages that I fill later paragraph by paragraph. Would be coll if text does not fit then it automatically creates new pages in Microsoft Word style.

My books will be created paragraph by paragraph and I have no long text to autoflow. If I reach the end of the page I would have to create 1 more page and then thread it my last page to the new page. Pretty tedious. So I rather create 20 new pages and complete all the threading beforehand.

Selecting all layer object in layer panel (clickin at the right most part of the layer). It selects locked object too if there is only one object locked. And I am able to move this locked object with all the other selected stuff. What does the meaning of the lock here? What is this feature good for?

I am having pair of master pages threaded text boxes. After adding new pages I can override all master page items and I get same pairs everywhere and now only have to click once per spread and dont have to hit upper corner of the margin. That is pretty good already.
