Hi @Am_I_Lame? I have some comments, but I think you may have difficulty finding something that is 'Simple to use.'
Adobe Bridge is a File Browser with benefits that allows you to view your photo files where you have placed them. It is the 'simplest' Adobe app that comes close to what you ask. One that I would recommend.
Adobe Lightroom is a 'Cloud based' app that syncs your photos up to the Cloud where you have limited ways of organizing. It does not mirror or replicate any folder structure you have currently in your PC.
Adobe Lightroom-Classic is deemed to be 'the Photographers Data Management app' that uses a database (called a Catalog) that has powerful features referencing your photos locally where they are located in your system. Lightroom-Classic has a very steep learning curve so may not be a choice if you want "basic organising".
There are other free FIle browser Apps (like XnView) but Bridge works better with other Adobe Apps.
An app called PhotoMechanic is ofter suggested by Pro Photographers, but again steep learning.

In Mac Finder- Does the {2014} folder on the {AM_Working} Drive have all the sub-folders of photos as they previously existed on the {SSD2024Dec} ? {2014} folder?
If that is the case then it should be simple to-
1) [Right-Click] on the {SSD2024Dec} { 2014 } folder; and Choose [Find Missing Folder]
2) Locate the { 2014 } folder on the {AM_Working } Drive-
3) Choose.
One slight complication I see is that the 2014 folder on {AM_Working } Drive already has 291 photos cataloged, yet it appears they are 'missing'. Where they are I don't know.

I'd be inclined to say "merge"(I think I have only ever done a 'merge' once eons ago.)- First though, do you have a copy of the catalog file somewhere to fall back on (as it exists now)? Just in case the merge does not go well.
From your screen-clip-
There are no external drives visibly connected (green light) . (Hidden down the panel ?)
What is drive SSD2024Dec? The "non functioning"?
What is the name of the drive with the restored files? The new 4TB drive? Is this 4TB drive where you found the restored files that you are trying to re-link?
Most important- DO NOT use the Import or Folder synchronize actions. Get the catalog correct before anything else.

And I doubt any of this will be relevant for Lightroom version: 8.5 (Cloud based!)
Thanks @Heron Photography for your detailed reply for @eimiailen
From your information I take it that the 'Preset' .lrtemplate file will need to be manually copied and pasted into the 'old' location folder for Presets- if indeed it is a Develop Preset. ie. The 'old' location for Lightroom-Classic.
Windows: C:\users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Develop Presets\User Presets\ Mac: Mac HD/Users/YOUR USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Develop Presets/User Presets/ The default User Preset folder for the *.lrtemplate files in Adobe Lightroom Classic
But I am still not convinced that the .lrtemplate file from a Spyder is a Develop Preset, but instead a Profile. I never remember Develop presets being a camera profile, unless a Develp preset created by the user makes a reference to the camera profile. I have such a Preset that applies my Nikon camera profile in the import process. Maybe the old Spyder devices did this- insert the profile within a Develop Preset.
I have attached a web document re Camera Profiles-

"Lightroom" The Cloud based app that you can use on all devices- (PC, Mac, iPad, phones) does not allow the import of duplicate files.
"Lightroom Web" (a web interface) uses a Web Browser (Safari, FIrefox, chrome, etc) that you log in to your photos in the Lightroom Cloud library from any system, at this address-
https://lightroom.adobe.com/
Where apparently (in the post from Victoria in 2022) you can import duplicates, although duplicates use cloud space (and can cause confusion).
The better option is to import a photo once, and if you want alternative edits (eg. Color & Monochrome), use the Version feature in Lightroom. (Screen-clip in a PC )

"a pretty cool feature to have in Bridge & Lightroom,"- If you have Lightroom-CLASSIC then there is a simple script that does exactly what you want. It works like this- (Select and two mouse clicks ! )
1) Select images in Lr-Classic library
2) Go Menu > Scripts > Get Filenames...
Result - Comma delineated list already highlighted to copy and paste.
The script can be found at- Get Filenames – Lightroom Solutions (It was written for 'Lightroom' - the app now known as Lightroom-Classic.)

@eimiailen Using a color card- you must be creating a CAMERA profile- Am I correct?
Camera profiles created by Xrite software are always .DCP files to the best of my knowledge.
So what Xrite software app are you using to create a 'Preset'?
Can you attach the .LRTEMPLATE file to a post here and myself (or someone else) can test to see if import is possible.?
Please provide a lot more information and give, in detail, any error messages you might see.
Your brief explanation is insufficient to arrive at an answer.

Still have not heard from @eimiailen as to what purpose the Spyder Checkr is being used.
For Camera Profiles:
@Heron Photography I believe your explanation to be not correct! The xrite colorchecker app creates a (DNG) .dcp Profile (Not a Preset). (.LRTEMPLATE files are NOT used or involved)
Then the user can Import this profile to Lightroom v8.5 (or Lr-Classic) and set this profile for a camera in the Lightroom Edit/Develop module and apply the profile for images specific to the camera.
Lightroom is not required to create a camera profile- only the ColorChecker Camera Calibration app is required and a DNG image of the color chart (This may require exporting the color chart photo as a DNG file from Lightroom, or using the DNG converter app to change a proprietary raw file to DNG)
My created Nikon profiles (shown in File Explorer):
The Camera Profiles shown in the Lightroom Edit Profile Browser (after importing the .dcp profiles)

Anyone else with suggestions?
I have tried many changes and exports to video and still cannot replicate your problem. An APS-C sensor should not affect the image. Cropping an image should not affect the stroke border.
Perhaps specific to Mac systems.
I hope you can hear from an Adobe Employee.

I have to admit that I am 'stumped'. I cannot replicate what you show in your screen-clip.
My tests always fit the stroke to the image- (Landscape, Portrait, square)
A file of small pixel dimensions may not fill the defined margins unless the box is ticked for [Zoom to Fill Frame], but the stroke still fits the edges of the small image.
Do you have [Zoom to Fill Frame] checked 'on'?
Is it possible your image in the screen-clip already has an inherent grey border (created in Photoshop mayabe?).?
It also might help an answer if you post a clip of your panels in the slideshow module as this-
Someone else may have experienced the same problem.

"I delete the photos "from lightroom" and not "from disk". Result: I have a lot of files cluttering up my computer and I would like to delete the raw files that I have not used/processed in Lightroom."
One method that seems unusual is this-
Import files from your Hard drive, including all those unwanted photos. (Maybe a folder at a time)
(Use Embedded or Minimal previews to speed up the import process.)
Immediately after the import goto the 'Previous Import' list in the Library catalog panel- These will be the files that you did not have in the catalog previously.
Now you can select photos in the 'Previous Import' list to permanently Delete from Disk.
Be aware- Another Import process will refresh and change the 'Previous Import' list.
You could Keyword (eg. "To Delete" ) ALL photos that appear in 'Previous Import' list and search the keyword later to selectively Delete from Disk.

"on the disk it is marked V13" . The Catalog name is just that 'a name'. It does not indicate the Version of Lr-Classic you are using.

In my Windows system I cannot replicate what you are suggesting. The Slideshow Options [Stroke Border] always fits the stroke to the image regardless of a crop (eg. square, rectangle).
OTOH in the Book module this is a known result where the Stroke Border places the stroke on the CELL boundaries even if the image is cropped (eg. a square image in a rectangular Cell.)
Can you post some screen-clips?

Known facts-
1) Lr-Classic believes folders with a [?] are on a Verbatim Drive eg. {2011}
2) YOU know where there is a {2011} folder (I cannot make out its location from your screenclips)
The method to relink is to-
a) [Right-Click] on the missing folder in the Lr-Classic folder panel (eg. ? 2011 ) and
b) Choose [Find Missing Folder]
c) Use Mac Finder to locate the {2011} folder where YOU know it to be (eg. different drive name). (This relinks the 2011 folder & its sub-folders)
If your photo library and all its sub-folders was restored in exactly the same heirarchy of folders and files under the Parent folder {Lightroom photo Library} then relinking this folder will be even easier, the sub-folders will re-link with the parent.
If you don't have the same exact heirarchy of folders/sub-folders/files, then you have a major task ahead of you. 😞

Lr-Classic does not sync ALL Photographs in your Catalog library. Instead it will only sync 'up' photos that have been added to Standard Collections that have been checked with the sync symbol.
So, how many of your photos are in synced Collections? You can filter for synced collections under the header of the Collections panel by clicking on the magnifier icon.
The [All SYnced Photographs] figure should closely match the total of photos in marked synced collections.

Greyed out previews suggest that those photos have already been imported to the Catalog. LrC by default does not allow exact duplicates to be both imported to the catalog.
Check the filename of one of the 'grey' photos and search for the filname in Lr-Classic, you may find it already imported and residing in a folder you are not aware of.
To help your understand the workings of LrC I suggest you start by reading the free eBook (Lightroom-Classic Quick Start) from the Lightroom-Queen:

Is it possible that the first import of 40 photos were copied to the Macintosh HD ? (Toggle the disclosure triangle)
Curious that your Previous Import shows 0 photos!
Do you have more than one catalog?
A caution with the 'Synchronize' Folder action, if photos are 'Missing' then an option in the Synchronize-folder can remove these photos from the catalog. Also the 'Synchronize Folder' function is often wrong when calculating previously imported photos to import.
You might be better to use the regular Import dialog selecting the folder you want and use the [ADD] option to bring in the additional 'new' photos.
Plus I also see a discrepancy in your screen-clip between 'All Photographs' (224) and the total of the 'Pictures' folder (193). Are there other folders not visible in your screen-clip? In the Mac HD?

Hi Aronis, Yes frustrating I know, having done many books in LrC and run into the same problem you have also encountered (and I still do).
Try this workflow-
1) Create a Standard Collection of photos (NOT a Smart Collection)
2) Select the photos in the Standard Collection and click on the top menu [Book] Module.
3) Apply [Auto Layout] so that the new book fills with photos (that can include the 'unwanted')
4) Immediately Click on the [Clear Book] tab.
Now I think you will find that the images on the Filmstrip have now reduced to only the selected photos from the standard Collection.
5) Immediately Click on the [Create Saved Book] tab, and give your new book a distinctive name.
Now you have a new 'Saved Book' that will show in the Collections panel with the tiny book icon and the name you gave it.
A couple of points-
-There is no "online module". Lr-Classic works locally.
-MOST IMPORTANT!- You MUST ALWAYS re-open your Book to make edits and changes by 'Opening' the Saved Book Collection (as created in step 5 above). You can [double-click] the Saved Book Collection name, or [One Click] the white arrow that appears after the book name when you hover the mouse cursor over the name.
-Do NOT use the top menu [Book] to re-open a previously created book. The Book module top menu always starts a 'new' book.
-Do not use the originally created Standard Collection again (delete it!). If you want more photos added to the book, drag them onto the Saved Book Collection.

To add to the good answers from @johnrellis and @Conrad_C - Some visual suggestions:
The Setting of Dimensions in the export defines an imaginary 'box' that your new image has to fit within. If your original image is not in the same ratio as the export dimensions then you will see something like this, with the resulting pixel dimensions (shown on images)-
1) The defined Export dimensions (a 'box') [Red]
2) An original image in a square format (eg. 4000 x 4000px) 1:1 ratio . [Blue]
3) An original image (eg. 7680 x 3360px) in a panoramic ratio [Yellow]
4) An original image (eg. 2560 x 4320px) in portrait orientation or cropped to a vertical. [Green]

"I have a weird system where I import to the Apple Photos, then drag the photos I want to edit to Desktop and them import from there to Lightroom."
As suggested by @richardplondon check that you are in fact editing a raw file-type in Lr-Classic.
Your problem might be that Apple Photos may only be showing you its preview JPGs ( that you are importing). The Photos app 'hides' your original raw files away in a package that is not available to Lr-Classic.

Now what do you mean by "update that folder again" can you explain in greater detail exactly what you did?
Is it possible you are viewing the 'Previous Import' file in the Catalog panel? This will only show photos from the last import process.
Can you view the folder in the 'Folders' panel? And does it have all the photos?
