Hi, You can add notes. See the Type menu Notes. InDesign doesn't export these to PDF. There are some commercial PlugIns that do. https://www.kerntiff.co.uk/products-4-indesign/pdfstickies P.

I think TIFF can have its own compression, part of its specification.

Hi, I think Mark and Peter have given you a good starting point. You will need the co-ordinates of each style run within a line. Use the Mark / Peter solution to find the co-ordinates of the first character in the style run, then the next, untill you have processed the whole line. If you are in to a bit of C code. Have a look at the C SDK. Sample code SnpInspectTextModel.cpp P.

Hi, It looks like your three paragraphs are the same stylerange. I am not familiar with the XML structure, but, maybe you should be looking at that. P.

Hi, not all the new shiny things made it to the SDK or the scripting world. I suspect that you could do an ePub export and then expand the .epub package to access the HTML files for processing. P.

The script from Peter works very well for me. seep my pdf. You need a text condition called 'Typo', set its appearance to wavy line, red and to print. P.

Hi, This is not a built in way to do this. You could script it. 1, collect all the spelling errors. 2, apply a text condition to the found spelling errors. There was a thread about finding the spelling errors. edited, here is a link. https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/script-to-extract-a-list-of-all-spelling-errors-in-a-document/m-p/13928403 P.

Hi, Who is the XBRL for, a financial filling authority? One way to get HTML from your version of InDesign ( 18.5.4 ) would be to export to epub, expand the epub, then join the html files. Not an easy job. Most filing authorities require a single xhtml file. The file would include images ( base64 ) and fonts ( base64 ). If you do not require the facts and figures marked up with iXBRL, you could create a pdf and then convert the pdf to xhtml. Pdf2htmlEX is often used. https://github.com/pdf2htmlEX/pdf2htmlEX Pdf2htmlEX is actually used by a few commercail iXBRL taggers. P.

Hello Dirk, Thank you for the very thoughtful reply. I can get the tags via IExportTagValues. What I am looking for is some thing much lower. I want to intercept the actual pdf export and determine the type of tag that would be inserted into the pdf / epub structure and insert my own tags, overriding what ID would insert. P.

Hi Dirk, Thank you for taking the time to look. From the UI, see pic. I want to insert my own tags where you see H2. I know these would normally be used for accesibility, but I have my own reason for overriding these. Thanks. P.

Hi,
I would like to make custom pdf tags.
I wonder is IStructureMarks the way to go.
The documentation is a bit thin.
Any suggestions, sample code would be very appreciated.

Hi, For a "first-rate academic result" you should use an Indexer. I know a few. Some of the tool that they use are here: https://www.kerntiff.co.uk/products-4-indesign/indexutilities The scripts take quite a bit of learning. 1, create the index with page numbers. 2, format the index for the import process. 3, import the index. This creates temporary text frames on each page. The temp frames contain the index markers. 4, move the markers to the correct place on the page. 5, remove the temp frames. 6, generate your InDesign index.

Hi, Thank you for that, I will have a look. The odd thng. CC 2017 and 2018 have stopped working on all my development machines., Mac and Windows. I might be wrong, I seem to remember reading some where that Adobe will only support the last 5 version of the software. This does not make much sense. I have customers using 2018 InDesign. P. Edited to say: I wonder if my new enterprise Adobe ID is the problem.

Hi,
CC 2018 Mac and Win has stopped working for. I haven't used 2018 for probably a year. I wanted to test a PlugIn in this version, it just does not want to work. InDesign > 2018 all work.
When I launch 2018 I am invited to sign in ( I am already signed in, I can use 2019 ). When I do sigin again, 2018 behaves like a trial version.
Anyone else seeing this?
Thank you.
P.

Calling your script from another script with an appropriate undo mode might be worth a test. P. === It doesn't need to another script, just the function.
