I too use the HTML5 publishing, and if I search within my HTML after publishing, any title that has a character like a / or , has been replaced with the character code. Underneath, in the actual search result it looks fine.

Ok, I had a minute and a relatively small chapter to play with. It would seem that in the conversion from FM2019 to FM2022, some of the WCN graphics have 'lost' their shrinkwrapping. It isn't visibly different, but reapplying it corrects the issue without any other actions. Now begins the search for a script to unleash on my entire book to reapply this to all graphics. Thanks all for the help.

It happens seemingly at random. There will be a section with WCN scattered throughout, and no pattern that I've seen. All icons have been inserted directly into the document body pages. Every image has had the frame shrink to fit and is imported at the same dpi every time. I will try a brand new template, as this one is from the early days of the 'publish' feature, and report back after. Thanks for the checklist, it really does help when ruling things out.

In FM 17 (2019) there were options to convert graphics from one format to another, but in FM19 (2022) there's only the option to convert from SVG to raster. The only object in the anchored frame is the image, no hotspots or links. All my notes feature the same anchored frame and imported image and yet not all have the issue (even though FM insists they are all different, even though they are all the same reference image). Thank you for your thoughts.

Hi Community, After finding out why my context points didn't work (tab vs space in the .h file), we're making the jump from FM17 to FM 19 (2022). I use a mix of .png and .jpg graphics in my documentation (depending if I created them or our graphic designer did). In our HTML5 output, FM has made some of the png files into svg (with the png embedded). This is happening at seemingly random spots. My warnings, cautions and notes are using png files for the graphic at the insertion point, followed by the text. This aligns the top edge of the graphic with the top of the text. There can be two notes under one another and one will change to svg while the other stays as png. The main problem is where the svg change happens, it aligns the text on the bottom edge of the graphic, as opposed to the top. I've already tried ticking and unticking things in the publish settings to no avail. Does anyone have any pointers?

This has completely fixed my issue with FM 2022. We had decided not to upgrade based on the context points no longer working. A simple find <space>1 and replace with <tab>1 was all I needed (all my points start with number 1). Thanks for the pointer.

We were in the same place as you back in 2019, and the step forward between chm and html5 was actually quite a small one. The publishing system FM uses makes it more of a simple process than it could have been. We're using the text section of the csh markers from the .h file and those are called in our software in a browser window driven by the software. Our process used to be generate files in FM, pass to 3rd party software to create CHM and embed in the software. Now we use FM from start to finish, host the live help on the web and the software stands alone. Except for context point changes, we can update the help independent of the software.

When downloading files from the web in windows 11, depending where they come from, windows blocks certain aspects of them. I did get it working in the end, but still had the same workflow issues as the previous version, so it was moot.

We're having a similar issue with exporting to HTML5 (we have a similar creation environment of .h and VS). I've used standalone machines to test each new version and CSH markers fall apart to the point we haven't upgraded, and are staying with 2019. Even had support logon to my machine and look over my files. The newer software versions seem oddly unsupportive of the maintained .h file method of generating anything with CSH.

Downloaded the trial to see if previous version issues have been fixed that stopped us upgrading from 2019. The installer gets to 70-90% then throws up this generic 183 error. I've 'unblocked' the zip file before extracting the installer contents. Running windows 10 currently, and have the latest .net framework installed. Does anyone have any pointers/solutions?

After running out of time trying to get our help out with FM2020, we decided to downgrade back to 2019 which had no issues. While trying to install, the installer window would ask for a sign in account, then after clicking next, would go blank. No network activity or anything. After a bit of googling, I found the solution that worked. It does say for captivate, but it appears the installer is generic. https://helpx.adobe.com/in/captivate/kb/captivate-installation-blank-page-sign.html

It will also show who knows how to trim a screenshot, and who doesn't lol. I had many double monitor screenshots to crop during conversion.

That's the problem. The markers are there, but something in the java 'magic' is not translating them correctly. If I replace the files with a group made from FM2019, they work fine. The .h file was inhereted, so I've just maintained it (mostly incase it got renumbered if I added new ones) and it had never been a problem. Where in the settings is anything for CSH markers? I've been looking, and can't see anything other than where to add a new (unstructured) CSH marker.

I don't have any answers for you, but you are not alone with version 2019>2020 issues with HTML 5. We've found the look of the sections is different, the topics are separating where they weren't asked to, and our context markers aren't translating correctly.

Page 167 in the Structure Application Developer Reference talks about translating attribute value selections. This should be able to convert the numbered selection to the equivalent word. Then edit one of the running H/F markers to display the translated attribute.

I'm hoping to see a list of the CSH markers that actually made it to the output files, as none of them are there now, and before the upgrade to FM16/2020, there was no issue. I can test our software with old versions of the help, and new versions. The earlier versions have context sensitive working, the new ones do not. Nothing was changed other than the "this was created in a previous version, do you want to update?" acceptance. The .h file in this case is manually maintained.

Is there anywhere I can view a list of the context points that have been captured/converted from my .h file? I've tried a couple of locations in the output, and seen either a couple of random ones from my file, or one that does not exist in my original files at all.

For our warnings, cautions, and notes, we use 3 graphics that are imported by reference throughout our help files. Is there any way to stop FM from creating a new file everytime it is referenced when publishing to HMTL5? This was a problem in FM2019 and still exists in FM2020. Just the notes are responsible for 235 graphics in the HTML output, from the single referenced original.

Before upgrading, I was able to click anywhere into the structure and insert an element from the catalog. Now, it seems to insert the element at the bottom of the branch in the tree, even though that is not the location selected in the tree.
This combined with the random formatting changes for HTML output is making me reconsider upgrading.

For some reason, the note graphic is now wrapped in a span element in the HTML that was not there in the previous version output. Why would it span all graphics all of a sudden?

For my warnings/cautions/notes, the icons are set in a left aligned anchored frame with the anchoring position set to run into paragraph. The corresponding text sits nicely alongside this and in FM 2019 it stayed there when output to Responsive HTML5. Since upgrading, the text now sits under the graphic. All publishing formats were imported into the new version, but no other changes were made. The issue does not occur when output to PDF. Anyone have any ideas?

By default, Frame will use the file names where no TOC exists. Even though it's online only, if you create a TOC, it will remove the 'double naming' you see there.

I've found them to be not so easy to spot in the HTML, as FM modifies them in the output files. Have a developer add a couple to the software and test them that way (that's what we did).

In our documentation, we use conditional text to control such things. We have a flag for pdf (where I set the graphics to 150dpi), and an HTML version where I set the graphics to 130. This does mean that if you have both switches on at once, you have two copies of the same graphic, but it makes publishing in both PDF and HTML easy.

My graphics looked fine in output before, but after adding rectangle hotspots for interactivity, the output graphics are noticably blurry. Are there any hidden settings that control this? The output options have been set to Default Format: (As Is), and JPG Quality 100. I copied the graphic so I have the same one with and without hotspots, and hotspots are definitely the cause.
