I'm running Windows 7. After my computer startup this morning it gave me an error message.

AdobeGCClient.exe - System Error

The program can't start because MSVCP140dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Hi all,

The fix will be deployed within the next 24 hour window on user's machines. If you need an immediate fix then you may download  the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package 32bit (x86) version of runtime and install the same:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The PCs with the issue have the 4/19/17 version of AdobeGCClient.exe on them, the machines with the 2/27/17 version are not getting the error.  Same version of Adobe Acrobat and Windows.  Going to the Previous Versions under the file properties i was able to pull the old version and copy/replace back to the 2/27/17 version and that seems to stop the error from popping up.  Since I have the same version of Windows and Acrobat on all stations I just did that file copy on each station with the 2/27/17 file version and all good here.  Not sure what caused that to update on some and not others when they have the same version of Adobe Acrobat Standard and no other Adobe tools on them.

Hi all,

If the issue is not getting fixed with the document provided above, i would request installing VC++ 2015 both x86 and x64bit Download Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 from Official Microsoft Download Center

And let me know if that helps.

Installing VC++ 2015 does resolve the issue but it would be nice if Adobe rolled back this update or could release a version of the Adobe GC Client that doesn't require VC++ 2015.  In an enterprise environment it's not so easy to just up and install it on hundreds of computers.

I installed the suggested version of VC++ per above and prior to my trying the cleaner and re-install and did not help me, immediately received the popup error on reboot and intermittently afterwards.  This does seem to be working for some though.

I am running Windows 10 and still got the error message this morning after receiving  an email from you saying it's fixed. How is it fixed? What exactly do I have to do to get it to stop? I have very average computer skills...please be very specific as I haven't even been able to find the files referred to on this thread.

We have found that installing VC++ 2015 x86 and x64bit cleared up the issue, but I also would like to find out how this happened and what steps were taken for remediation .

Ashu,

Is there a way to force this update/fix to happen?  Or do we just have to wait until it randomly updates like it did yesterday when it started breaking our clients?

Tested this morning on a PC that was still getting the error, I updated her AdobePro from 11.0.16 to 11.0.20, restarted PC but it didn't touch the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\AdobeGCClient\ so I'm guessing that's why it's still getting the MSVCP140dll is missing error.  Is there a way to trigger an update to AdobeGCClient to get the updated files?  It appears to be a separate update process.

Running Win 7 Pro-64bit with Acrobat Standard DC Version 2015.006.30280 through Dell Digital Delivery and getting the same AdobeGCClient.exe .dll error.  I used the cleaner and reinstalled and seemed to work fine until suddenly I was pushed an update... and of course it's doing it again now.  Hey Adobe, how about you turn off this push until you get this sorted out.  I spent a large chunk of my afternoon working on this, invoice is in the mail, you can pay with check or credit card.  Thanks!

I'm getting the same error on Adobe Acrobat that we have purchased. I don't support cloud licensing as we only buy the licenses of Adobe products that we need and we will keep them on the computer. Is there any way to disable this licensing check?

I don't know how this could have automatically updated by itself...

AdobeGCClient runs as a service on Windows, I don't know if it will work, but try disabling the service in Control Panel/Administrative tools. As the service is there to validate this may prevent Acrobat from running but you can always turn it back on.

Ashish,

My organization is experiencing this issue as well.

Can you please provide details about what was changed that caused this to occur all of a sudden. In a previous post you referred to a change in 2016 that may have been the cause but it was never confirmed.

Can you also let us know what products and versions will be affected by this. Is it ALL adobe products and versions or are there specific products\versions ?

Is there any way to manually initiate the update to download the fix you mentioned ?

Well not sure this just happened, but I notice now I have to be logged into DC cloud to even have the software 'activated' which is a real pain since our company bought all these Dells with Adobe Acrobat as a Digital Delivery and I set them all up under my (IT) email address.  We DON'T want our employees to use DC cloud since all our files/drawings, etc are on a file server and this would just be an avenue for employees to 'hide' files in spots they aren't supposed to be kept.  If I log out of my account, it literally deactivates the software.  More ways to make it harder for the legal owner to use the software and in no real way has it made it difficult for hackers.  Now maybe this has been like this for awhile and we're just fortunate enough to not have had it rear it's head until now, not sure.

Really unfortunate if we're going through this mess due to DRM no?

Hi ryang61498772,

Our apologies for the inconvenience. This issue is contained to Acrobat only scenarios on user machines. If you have Acrobat with any other CC app, it should not be happening and it is not happening for other CC apps.

It is caused by a update deployment by one of the common components that goes to both Acrobat and CC. The The fix is deployed and within the next 24 hour window it will be effective on user's machines. If you need an immediate fix then you may download  the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package 32bit (x86) version of runtime and install the same:  https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=48145
