When opening 'Acrobat Reader DC' I get a couple of message boxes 'RdrCEF.exe - bad image' and another 'AcroRD32.exe bad image' both with the content:

"c:\windows\system32\icm32.dll is either not designed to run om windows or it contains an error.............<more>"

Any ideas on what could be causing this, the reader stays open (not sure what it might prevent me from doing'

No, that didn't fix it.

I fixed by 'reparing windows 10'

dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

                sfc /scannow

Hi Barrys,

As you get the Bad Image error when you open the application, try once to repair the installation.

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and select Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Right click on it and select Repair/Change, then select the option to repair installation of the application.

Make sure that the application is closed when you repair installation.

Then reboot the machine and check if you still get the error message when you open the application.

If the above does not help, try uninstalling and re-installing the application.

Use cleaner tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs to remove the application from the machine.

Restart your machine and re-install application from here Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

Hope this will resolve the issue.

Let us know how it goes.

If you still experience the issue please up[date the thread.

Regards,

Meenakshi
