After the update to the latest version of Acrobat Reader DC the program crashes after 15 seconds. This problem is occurring on multiple session host in our RDS farm.

OS version:     Server 2012R2 latest patch level

Product:          Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2019.008.20071

At first this problem only seemed to occur only with specific documents. After some testing on multiple machines the application crashes after about 15 second without opening any document. Tested with different users, same result.

The previous version worked without any problems.

The web plugin doesn't seem affected.

Hi tomb28384005,

Issue is not reproducible with us.

One of the issue was fixed after removing RdrCEF.exe but still there are few users facing this issue.

Please message me with your email ID to sync and connect over to review the setup again.

Thanks,

Shakti

If you cannot fix this, how come Adobe has not provided a proper solution to roll back to the previous version that is working?

This is over two months now without anything.

I see that with current version issue is the same 3+ months.
Let me explain what I noticing in my environment.
1)Windows 2016 RDS fresh install of Adobe Reader DC with folder redirection
2)Adobe crashes on Start by opening reader only.

3)Adobe will crash after some time while opening PDF.
4)Opening PDF from Desktop might get me access denied and then crash of Adobe.

Disabling protected mode from Adobe fixes issue.
Open pdf from Adobe installation folder (I think this is trusted PDF and the folder) click ctrl+k immediately and go to security (enhanced) and uncheck Enable Protected Mode at startup. Restart Adobe and we good to go.

Installation of a reader on the server that is not RDS will not present the same issue.
It points me to the GPO that restricts some user settings or file execution or just because this is RDS with folder redirection.
