Running Citrix 7.15 LTSR XenApp on Windows 2016 servers.  Installed Adobe Reader DC 2019.021.20061 and now noticing servers with multiple instances of AcroRd32.exe running causing high CPU utilization on servers.  Has anyone experienced this and provide feedback on how you fixed it?

Hi Charleneb,

We are sorry for the trouble. As described above, there are multiple AcroRd32.exe sessions running and causing high CPU.

Are you trying to open the PDF in a web browser?

The browser plug-in stores files in the browser cache, which may cause the browser to report an incorrect condition until the browser is closed. In addition, applications with hooks into Internet Explorer may causeAcrobat and Adobe Reader to detect an open browser even when the browser appears to be closed.

For more information please use the help article: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-exe-acrord32-exe-doesnt.html

You may also try to turn off the Protected mode for testing. Go to Edit > Preferences > Enhanced Security  > Turn off the protected mode and uncheck the Enhanced Security > Click OK

Note: Please turn on the security settings after testing irrespective of the result.

If it works for you, please refer to the help article: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/protected-mode-troubleshooting-reader.html

Let us know how it goes
