I still get crashes working with Xd on windows from time to time where the application just quits. The problem is intermittent and I don't have more data on circumstances leading up to it at the moment, but will update the issue if I spot this happening again.

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Could you please share the system logs by following the steps shared here: https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-log-collector.html
If there is no pattern for the crash and it's happening randomly I'd recommend uninstalling the application using https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html
And then re-installing the application and check if that helps.
