Audition can identify hardware communication issues and can show recording and playback errors. Device failures, driver errors, and incorrect audio hardware configuration may cause the audio recording to not work. Watch this video to understand how to configure device drivers and configure the audio hardware preferences to get things working.

0:40 - Device manager on your PC can help 

0:57 - Update drivers on your audio devices 

1:20 - Uninstall device completely then reinstall 

1:48 - Try changing device class from MME to ASIO or WASAPI
