P: LRc crashing every time I attempt to open. (8496103)

Participant ,

Mac OS - Ventura

LRc Version - whatever the latest is 12.4??

I was editing some pictures and selected the print module, and LRc crashed.  Now it will not open.  I do notice that LRc is trying to open the print module, then crashes.   I uninstalled LRc, restarted Mac, shut down Mac, nothing seems to work.  If I could get LRc ignore its previous state, i.e. print module, I think it would open again.  Is the a way to clean/clear the previous state.  Maybe I will have to do a fresh install, not thrilled about that but maybe the only way to fix this.

Thanks for any assistance.

and LRc crashed

So, did you deal with the lock file that would have not been deleted?

Didn't know about that, I downloaded V12.0.  Back in again.  Thanks.

我和您遇到的情况一模一样。最新的苹果系统更新后,现在LRC已经打不开了,一打开就报告错误关闭了软件。不知道怎么办?

Issue persists in 12.5, cannot use Lightroom for 2 weeks, please prioritize this issue.

@oaltun

It is likely your issue is unrelated to this thread. You should probably start a new thread with complete system details and detailed failure steps.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography why do you assume so? The exact same issue is happening on my system, started with the exact action when I selected the print module.

@oaltun

I don't assume. I can see the crash reports on our end and can see they aren't the same crash.

@pvamic41

Can you confirm you are no longer seeing the crash?

I downgraded to V12.0.  No crashes at all, just some metadata issues which have not been resolved yet.  V12.4 was crashing all the time so I reverted to 12.0. But thanks for all you assistance.  I will update when/if 12.5 is released.

OK,  just upgraded to 12.5, went to print module and now I am back to where I started,  can't open LRc.  See video I attached when this started.

Can someone tell me how to get into LRc now.  I downgraded to 12.0 but crashing on start.  Should I delete/change the "lock file"?

@pvamic41

You might need to do a combo Clean Reinstall - Preference File reset.  Please follow these procedures

Clean Lightroom Install Procedure

Close Lightroom

Restart the computer

Use the Adobe Creative Cloud App to uninstall Lightroom

Restart the computer

Install Lightroom via the Creative Cloud App without launching any other programs.

Restart the computer

Launch Lightroom

Wait 5 minutes

This procedure works for both Lightroom Classic and Lightroom Desktop.

If you are using Lightroom Desktop it can change the location of your local storage. Please review this setting after resetting preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

@pvamic41

I am not understanding "Opened print module, same thing, can't open LR.  "

Are you saying Lightroom only crashes when accessing the Print Module?
or
Are you saying that after using the Print Module, Lightroom will not open again?

Please explain in detail, step-by-step so I can understand.

When I select the print module, LR crashes and will not open again. I have
to uninstall/reinstall.

This entire conversation was based on my selection of the print module. When I select the print module LR crashes and when I try to open it flashes briefly the print module and closes.  I went through the suggestions provided and it still crashes LR and I then need to uninstall LR and reinstall V12.0.  I have not tried the print module with V12. 0.

Thank you for the clarification. I will pass this along to the team for further investigation.

At this point, you would need to revert to your workaround of using version 12.0.

@Rikk Flohr: Photography in my case even reverting to v12.0 does not help, always the same issue.
