I just upgraded to the newest Photoshop Beta today. Previously I was able to turn a photo into a painting in Beta using Generative Fill following the many online tutorials such as Brian Matiash's. Now when I try the same steps I just get weird effects like the entire image turns blue instead of a painting effect. I tried going to back to an older Beta version and it still won't work. Is anyone else having this issue?
in Beta 25.9 I can no longer turn photo into painting using mask, generaive fill, promt - oil painting. In previous versions it worked very well. Now it is generating some strange results. Please bring this feature back. Thanks.
Procedure: Open image, hit Q (Quick mask), invert, Edit menu- Fill - Color- 0,0,55 - OK, hit Q again, Edit menu - Generative fill- Type in 'oil painting with brush strokes' - Generate. Hey presto, an oil painting from a photo.
As I say works in RS2024 not Beta 25.9. Problem appears to be on invert. In Ps 2024 when invert is hit the image takes on a transparent red (or whatever color is set) but you can clearly see the subject matter. Whilst in Beta, on hitting Invert, the entire image is now totally red i.e. the subject matter cannot be seen. If the procedure laid down above is then continued to the end, the result is an oil painting but with no subject matter, just like someone has slapped paint onto an empty canvas. I did try using the Quick mask brush (instead of hitting Q) at a 50% opacity to achieve the transparent look from PS2024 but it made no difference to the outcome. Needs fixing please.
When I take all the steps to create an oilpainting and anything else. All I get is a blue box. In Beta. open image, go to chanels, create a chanel, choose color change brightness, hit alt delete, control click on chanel click on box that say below 50% grey, open rgb chanel open layers type oilpaint and other prompts and click generate and it generated blue bue box. Have done this numerous times and all I get is a blue box
Thanks for letting us know about this! Would you please try selecting one of the selection tools from the toolbar to see if the mask turns off? We were seeing a similar issue and if it's the same that would be a workaround.
Also, it would be great if we could have a screen capture of the behavior. A really easy way to make a small screen capture in gif form would be to download Licecap (it's free). Then make a screen recording of the behavior you're seeing.
Usually I open or create an image in Photoshop Then I create a channel then fill the foreground color 30- 40 % click on the alpha channel and select it then go to the RGB and it allows me to generate painterly effects
The past couple of days that has stopped working entirely
What is this process called exactly and what happened? How can i fix it?
