For a complete overview on camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop (CS6 or earlier) or Lightroom (5 or earlier), Adobe provides backwards compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for any specific camera are not available

No one here knows. We don't know. Adobe never tells us when. When Adobe gets all the work completed to successfully use raw photos from this camera, they will release a new version of the software. Then we will all find out at the same time.

Until Adobe release supported versions of Lightroom-Classic and ACR, you will need to edit with Canon's DPP App (Digital Photo Professional), and export to TIF or JPG.  DPP lists the R5c as supported. https://cam.start.canon/en/S002/manual/html/UG-00_Before_0050.html

Please see for yourself which version of Camera Raw supports a camera and which version of Photoshop is compatible with that ACR version:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html

If you prefer processing RAW images with ACR instead of the camera maker’s proprietary software you might want to petition them to allow shooting DNG so that Adobe does not have to play catch-up with each new camera model’s RAW format.

Hi. If your camera is not supported by Lightroom, you can use this utility to convert your images to DNG: https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/adobe-dng-converter.html

The Sony A7 IV is not yet supported in the Camera Raw, the DNG converter or Lightroom.

You'll have to use the converter provided by Sony and create TIFF versions for use in Photoshop and Lightroom while we all wait for a Raw update from Adobe.

Perhaps the update is being progressively deployed to the regions.

It “went” as it has for decades. And will continue to. Don't be surprised if Sony doesn't reply here. Adobe already has.

Hoor graag.

Google translation: "I just got a new Sony RX 100 vii. Updated the latest Camera Raw (14.1). But neither Photoshop nor Lightroom recognize the file. Sony works with .arw. It seems as if this camera is not in the latest update of Camera Raw."

Support for the RX100 VII was added in LR 8.4.1. In LR, do the menu command Help > System Info, and copy/paste the first line here, so we can see precisely which version of LR you're running.
