P: Support for Canon .CR3 Camera-matching Profiles

There is currently zero support for .CR3 camera color profiles in Lightroom... especially since the newer Canon cameras use a .CR3 format... making it difficult to get work done. Only slightly surprised that this wasnt planned for beforehand since there still isnt a 64bit version of the adobe programs that i can use on the most current version of MacOS.

"No updates in creative cloud available."

Updates roll out incrementally to users, and it can take quite a while for them to be available to everyone.

I would be very surprised if anyone outside prerelease sees updates prior to Max in a few days.

I have an R5 and a 1DX Mk3 and camera matching profiles are indeed available in Camera Raw 14.0 for the CR3 files from those cameras.

Indeed profiles for new Canon RF lenses and R5 camera matching profiles are there 🙂

Thank you for listening Adobe!

- The supported cameras page is NOT updated @Rikk Flohr: Photography , as it still states R5 does NOT have camera matching profiles, although it seems we do now.

My less-important M6markII is still not supported 😞 ,  but now I can justify spending $5K on that R5 and enjoy it fully on my lightroom cloud

Thank you Adobe for listening to us and finally including this support! You don't understand how life-changing this is and how revolutionary this is to my photography. I can stop my transition to Capture One. I can now confidently use my R5 and R6 cameras again. I am scarred by how long it took to support the R5 and R6, but thankful that you have also included support for a very new camera, the R3. I hope that will be the trend going forward: quick Camera Matching support for .CR3-based cameras.

They are there now in Lightroom Classic -- I literally was waiting for this to buy a R6, and are now enjoying the camera-matching profiles. Both Lightroom CC and Classic have them.

Hi again, I posted earlier about the color profiles of the Canon R5 in LR CC...the reason I posted this is because someone from Adobe Support told me that the proflies aren't available and that there's no promised date yet.  He said I could request it and gave me a link to this.  However, it sounds like the latest version has the color profiles for this camera.

Can someone tell me how to know if I'm using the right color profiles (Canon R5) in Lightroom CC?  When I click on Color (next to Profile) there's a check mark next to Color, but it doesn't say WHAT color profile I'm using.  It used to say Adobe Color.  So, how do I know if I'm using the R5 color profile?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

"When I click on Color (next to Profile) there's a check mark next to Color, but it doesn't say WHAT color profile I'm using.  It used to say Adobe Color."

I assume you're seeing this:

johnrellis_2-1636418544698.png

You're editing a non-raw (e.g. .jpg or .tif), not a raw (.e.g a .cr3). When you're editing a non-raw, the default profile is Color, but when you edit a raw, the default profile is Adobe Color:

johnrellis_3-1636418626677.png

You can verify which file type you're editing by typing "i" one or two times to show the info overlay in the upper-left corner of Develop.

In general, the Camera Matching profiles are only available for raws.

"Adobe Support told me that the profiles aren't available and that there's no promised date yet."

Unfortunately, Adobe support is hit or miss (more miss than hit).

Make be a silly question, but how can you tell the R5/R6 profiles are there? Do you just assume LR detects the camera model and applies the profile to the 'Adobe' Profiles? It would be nice to see them listed in the software somewhere?

Edit a raw file from the camera in Develop. Click the Profile browser button:

johnrellis_0-1636474801940.png

If you see the profile group Camera Matching, then Adobe has supplied camera-matching profiles for that camera model:
