We're looking to deploy a server on AWS / Coldfusion 11 Enterprise ( LINUX ) and I'd really appreciate some advice from someone who knows this area.

About the server:

  • Only handles coldfusion CFCs  NO DATABASE ( this will be on another Amazon RDS server )
  • Mainly handles Flash-remoting requests from AIR Apps - typically it receives request, hits database, returns data
  • low bandwidth - the site only hosts one swf and some cfcs

There are 3 options in our budget:

M3 LARGE

C3 LARGE

R3 LARGE

Hi,

If you were deploying on "metal" what CPU and RAM would you use? Use that as a guide.

I find for our AWS deploy on m3.large works very well. Keep in mind I say so but our application works different to yours, not much flash or air, on Windows.

Having mentioned m3 works well I am looking forward to deploying CF and application on newer spec m4 instance.

HTH, Carl.
