Adobe Background Processes

Dear users, 

We have seen numerous posts regarding the Adobe processes that run in the background. Queries like what do these processes mean, how much CPU speed do they need or are they important to run the Creative Cloud desktop app or not, have always been one of our frequently asked questions.

Hi everyone,

I've installed Adobe cc 2018 for a while now. And just last night. "ccxprocess" app appeared  on my Mac's Launchpad (red icon).  It wasn't there before. it just appeared last night and until now. i tried to drag the icon on the trash bin and it wont get deleted. I tried to click it and nothing happened.. I don't what it is. I'm not sure if its a virus.. If its okay, why did it just appeared now? not sure if i'm just paranoid because at the time it appeared i was using a free vpn and browsing lots of tabs (and some sites that are you know.. let's not get into that. ). so i'm not sure if someone got into my mac. and place it there. not sure though or i'm just paranoid.. Please help...

Btw i'm using a Macbook pro 2017 if anyone might ask.. Sorry if my english is not perfect.

Do you guys also have an app on you launchpad that is called ccxprocess? because i've researched they have it inside the adobe folder. but why does mine have its own launchpad app? like if you go to launchpad on mac. there are lots of icons right? adobe premiere, adobe photoshop, indesign, etc.. then there is a ccxprocess...  click it nothing happens, delete its folder, still there. is this normal?

Please help me.. i can't sleep thinking about this.

there is an adobe ccxprocess.  why you cannot remove it from your launchpad i can't say.

Go to your utilities folder and delete it from there! This should work

Do you know what this program is used for? I assume you do or else you wouldn't suggest deleting it.

I just noticed the same ccxprocess app on my mac's launchpad. As you, I'm also panicking a bit. Did you ever find out what this thing is? Why it suddenly appeared?

No I didn't. But I would have thought considering the privacy laws are updating because of the whole facebook issue, I would thought adobe would explain what extras they installing without our permission. Then let us decide. I took mine off none the less!

Thanks for your quick reply. How did you delete it, may I ask? I tried removing it with CleanmyMac 3 but it says the program is running and needs to be closed in order to be deleted. I can't close it.

Go to Applications > Utilities Folder > Then send it to trash.

I cant remember if it had additional folders with an Adobe connection.. I think it did. I got rid of all of them and other adobe apps have been fine.

Hum... that's not usually the best way to get rid of unwanted programs. I'll repost the question. At least I'm somewhat reassured your computer isn't showing any side effects, right?

Though I've posted another thread in hopes of getting some answers to our question, there has been no response.

You can read in a follow-up comment I left there that I was able to successfully remove the app. Yet it returned as soon as I used Photoshop again. I'm now guessing - have found no info to confirm this - that CC now automatically creates this icon in the mac's launchpad.

It is really infuriating that Adobe doesn't notify us of such changes, especially given the panic in can cause thinking it's some kind of virus...

I agree in thinking its a virus. My ex was a wiz at this kinda stuff and suddenly everything started acting really strange. HOW TO GET RID OF IT?

Its used as a app look up for the rest of CC apps. when you open the app it will allow you to search for different ones related to photoshopping. for example Adobe Bridge. its not a Virus.

It's not a virus.

It's part of Adobe Creative Cloud and it's purpose is to allow you to move seamlessly between Adobe CC apps.

You can delete it but chances are that it will come right back the next time you open any Adobe CC app.

It's completely harmless. No need to worry.

It isn't harmless. It is massive and intrusive, and cannot be turned off. Come on Adobe and listen to your customers. I only occasionally use Creative Cloud and yet must put up with my computer freezing every day because you have programmed your app to run at all times, draining the life force out of my system. This has been going on for years. Now it's time to renew my subscription again. Will I renew it? No I won't.

CCXPROCESS cannot Remove. It's official part of Plug-In, Templates, Library and Dashboard. No need to worry. CCXPROCESS means Creative Cloud Experience Process.

I've got a process called node.exe in the Task Manager and it's not using a lot of my CPU But Is It something to worry about or is it something that needs to be removed.

node.exe is a full Node.JS executable, containing everything software developers need to run Node.js
applications on Windows or any other OS.

Node.js - on the other hand - is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that
executes JavaScript code server-side.

In Adobe apps, it is mainly used for File Syncing - it's safe.
