I've owned Photoshop Elements since 2011, and just tried to install it on a new laptop. Now I'm being told my serial number is invalid - it has always worked before! And I haven't typed it in wrongly, either. Can anyone help?

Hi Houmans24203789,

Based on what you have mentioned, you are unable to activate Adobe Photoshop Elements on your new laptop, you encountered invalid serial number and you have also tried solutions mentioned by Ned. In addition to what Ned said, please try steps mentioned in this document: -Error: "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Adobe Creative Suite and share the results.

Thanks.

Find your serial number

If you are unable to validate the serial number you can try the following:

For PC

1. Open run and type drivers and enter.

2. Look for etc folder.

3. Inside etc folder you will get hosts file please open it using notepad. if you find any entries follow this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034 to fix the hosts files.

4. Restart the Computer to complete the fix.

5. Try installing the Software. It should work fine.

For Mac

1.Click Go

2. Go to Folder-type /etc

3. Open hosts file and if entries are there please make a copy of hosts file on the desktop then delete all entries which says Adobe in it then save it.

4. Try installing the software again and it should work.
