Can't watch videos

I'm using Windows 7 and have installed Flash 10.1 When I try and watch a video They tell me to install Flash. I already have installed Flash then I get a message below:
"If the option "Allow third-party Flash content to store on your computer." is not checked our videos will not play. Check this box and close and re-open your browser and the videos should display".
I can't find "Allow ..." on the Global Storage Settings in the Settings Manager.

Thank you for your help. I have been to the site many times and have
selected the Global Storage Settings. The msg says to download Flash
which I have done many times. I seem to be going around in a circle.
Hope you can help.

Thanks for checking. That is the Control for Flash Player and is Installed into the browser when Flash Player is Installed. For some reason it was not.
Did you receive any error messages when Installing?
Have you had any virus either before Installing Flash Player vs 10.1.102.64 or after?
If so were they removed and which program(s) removed them?
What Anti-Virus/Spyware programs do you now have Installed?
Thanks,
eidnolb

Hi, thanks. Well we know MSE doesn't Install anything into the browsers, so can rule that out. I have found that any major upgrade such as the OS can cause a glitch here and there.
What I would suggest is to Uninstall Flash Player and Install again.
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Uninstaller:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Download and SAVE to your Desktop the Installer for IE- use the EXE Installer
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Close all browser windows, you only want to be looking at your Desktop.
Disable any messenger services, as yahoo, msn, etc in the system tray(area near the clock)
Be sure to use the Administrator Account.
Run the Uninstaller and when finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Run the Installer for IE, and when finished, Reboot.
Then go to this test site and test each browser:
http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
You may want to print these instructions to make it easier to follow. If you have any questions, let me know.

I downloaded the two to the desktop, but I have no idea what an
Administrator Account is. Sorry to be so dumb.
I finally found the Admin Act and unchecked the box to disable it. but
when I rebooted the computer i selected the Admin icon and non of the
two downloads were there on the desktop. I'm sure I screwed something
up. Sorry

Hi, that's ok, I think we can recover. The Administrator Account is the one that you would have first set up when you bought your computer. And by using this account you can create other User Accounts. The Administrator Account is the "boss" of the PC:-) You can Uninstall/Install programs, access the system files and make changes and so on. A lot of users don't use this account for regular browsing since it is subject to hackers, etc. So they use Standard Accounts that they have set up, etc which doesn't have the privileges that the Administrator Account has.
Now before you do this test below, Reboot your computer. I think I know what you did so the Reboot should fix it.
You can do a quick test. Go down to the clock and RIGHT click directly over the time. When the window opens, left click on the AdjustDate/Time. If a Window opens showing the Clock and a Calendar, then you are using the Administrator Account.
Let me know and then if the Uninstaller and Installer is not on your Desktop, we'll put them on again.

Hi, ok that's good. You didn't say whether you rebooted(restarted) your computer or not, but if you didn't, please do so. That will reset that small window that came up that you unchecked before.
Now you can just go back to Post 8, and use the same links to download and SAVE to your Desktop and proceed.
If you can describe that window that popped up(I don't have Win7) perhaps I can identify it, if you think it may be a problem this time. I gather this comes up before the download starts?

When I rebooted there were two icons on the desktop: Administrator and
Richard (the one that's normally there) When I select Admin there are no
icons on the desktop that I recognize. That is, the two that i
downloaded earlier (one to uninstall and one to install) are not on the
desktop. When you said to use the administrator Account I assume I
should select the Admin icon on the desktop?

Hi, Whichever Account you used to do the clock test is the Account I would use to Uninstall/Install. Isn't the Uninstaller and Installer on your Desktop no matter which Account you are using?
I'm confused. Do you have an Administrator icon and a Richard icon on your Desktop? Then depending on which one you use determines whether the Uninstaller and Installer are on the Desktop?
I don't have any icons for my Admin Account nor other Accounts on my Desktop, so I can't relate:-) (doesn't compute) LOL
I think the best thing to do is use the Account you used for the clock test, go back to the post #8 and start over.
Just pretend how you start now is how you would have started without that "glitch" Hope you can follow all of this:-)

eidnolb

The Desktop for each account is different, so if you put something onto the 'Richard' Desktop, you won't have it on the Administrator Desktop. But when logged in as Administrator, you can easily copy the files from the 'Richard' Desktop. Or more easily, download the files again.

You should also check if you have the "kill-bit" for Flash Player set; see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3432049#3432049
Don't change anything manually, just check if it is set.

That did it . I set the kill-bit to zero from 400 and all is well. Thank you very much.

Perhaps I mislead you. When I open the window and click on the Adjustdate/Time the window shows a wall clock and the date, but there is no calendar (like a wall calendar). I tried this with the Admin enabled box both checked and unchecked and got the same result when the Adjdate/Time window opened.

Hi, It could be different with Win7 than XP which I use. I think the point of the test is that only an Administrator has the Permission to set/change the clock/zone, etc.
If one is not using the Administrator Account then they would receive a message saying so.
I think you'll be fine as long as you use the Admin Account and proceed from there.

Hi, I didn't see any attachment come in. If you could describe it, maybe that would work. Did you have success with Uninstalling/Installing? If not, did you receive any error messages? If so, let me know.

Hi, I think when uploading an image you need to use the"camera" icon in the reply page. (beside the smiley faces) Click on that.
So the Install didn't work and I'm sure you checked to see if the Shockwave Flash Object was listed and enabled.
There is a reason that this is not Installing. Did you check to see about that Kill-bit and if it was set or not? That would be one that would block it for sure. Check on that first.
Before you Installed MSE, what Anti-Virus/Spyware program(s) were Installed and did you use the Removal Tool in addition via the Control Panel?
If the above checks out then it sounds like it may be a Registry issue.
Thanks,
eidnolb

I have Shockwave Flash player 11.5.9.620 in my addons.
Well it finally works. I finally got up enough courage to change the
kill-bit from 400 to zero and nothing exploded. You are a GENIUS. If
you're ever in New Mexico I'll buy you a steak dinner. Promise. Thanks a
million.

Hi, I know it takes courage to do anything in the Registry, glad you found yours:-) This Kill-bit setting came to my attention a few weeks ago from another thread I was helping on. There are several ways this can happen. A Virus (that's why I asked) a program that does this on purpose and why I don't know. I don't think a User would ask for this to be done, so my money is on the Virus. There may be a couple of Anti-Virus/Spyware programs that do indeed set Kill-bits, but they are only supposed to set them on "known" dangerous ActiveX Controls. I wouldn't use any of them, since if they make a mistake it's my computer that is affected!! Besides they would be the one making the decision on that, not me.
I don't tamper with my Registry or use "cleaners" either. With over 4,000 Registry keys picking the wrong one is just not worth the risk in my opinion. I rely on the Registry Experts at Microsoft that say beginning with XP, the Registry doesn't need "cleaning" as it takes care of itself.
Anyway, glad to hear it's fixed!!!
Well I've been voted President, so I'll add Genius to my titles:-)
Hey, is New Mexico close to MO? Ha-Ha, may be heading out that way when it warms up. I've been told New Mexico is a beautiful State. Lived in Texas quite a few years and loved it there.
Until then, just marking your thread answered would be appreciated.
Thanks for the cooperation and having the courage to make that change.
Regards,
eidnolb
