P: Sync Catalogs

I'm asking this question here because I know that many of you would find this feature extremely helpful, especially if you're a busy working / traveling photographer like me. I also know that some of you here either work for Adobe or are somehow affiliated, so hopefully, you'll be able to chime in on this as well.

Adobe is in the business of making money (duh) and have incorporated a rather assertive (read: annoying) campaign of selling space on their servers. Would it not make sense then, to allow for LR users to store their catalogs (with the caveat / necessity of including storage-consuming smart-previews) in the Cloud? Adobe had even changed the name of Lightroom to Lightroom Classic Creative Cloud (cough and shudder) so why haven't they included the most helpful and obvious function of them all for LR users?

I understand that we still can't keep a LR Catalog on a local server for whatever reason, but in 2023 I'm starting to become a bit impatient at the absence of this elephant-in-the-room solution to my workflow problem...* (my workflow goes something like: I work on a catalog of images at the studio, then have to travel for a shoot for 5 days with my laptop in a hotel room where I imagine the convenience of being able to continue working on my studio catalog in my spare time and then return home to find it all synced up)

I'd love to know why this isn't a thing yet and why, at the very least, I can't access my ever-evolving develop presets via Adobe's Cloud without having to manually export them, upload them, then download them, and resync them on my own.

If anyone can chime in here on whether or not I'm missing something or why Adobe can't seem to deliver this extremely useful feature, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for reading.

TLDR: No Catalog or Preset Sync via Adobe CC. Why not?

I support this idea of JBedfordPhoto. It's good!

Years ago, Adobe made the decision that all the cloud syncing improvement work would be done on the cloud version of Lightroom and no longer on Classic. Classic's syncing features would be frozen but not all the other features (Classic still typically gets new features first). They even announced this on their blog. Problem is that the cloud version has not really advanced to the point that it is a replacement for Classic for many of us. It's still missing many (or most) essential features for it to be that. Bottom line is that there really is little chance we'll ever see added features to the syncing from Classic. I have no inside info though and you never know but the past many years certainly haven'ty given any indication Adobe is changing that strategy.

Yeah, you see, I really don't get that. I mean, I understand what you're saying but really can't understand why the developers at Adobe are unwilling or unable to integrate this feature in LRCC. That they would include this feature in LR (basic cloud version) for advanced amateurs and NOT include it in their professional version of the software is mind-boggling.

From a shareholder perspective, Adobe is really dropping the ball. Provide the feature ----> Sell more cloud-storage ------> Adobe and shareholders make more $ -------> User-base satisfied.

Helllloooooo Adobe??!

Thanks! I'm glad you also think so. (sorry for the late reply)

I feel like I've been wanting this for over a decade, but I'm not sure I've ever formally requested it here. It's an obvious one, but I'm surprised I haven't heard more squeaky wheels on this topic.

Please, for the love of god, allow us to sync our catalogs in the cloud. Why isn't this available yet? I know Adobe loves to upsell their Cloud Storage and this would be a great way to do right by your customers and earn a bit more cash. Win-Win.

Tell me there are at least a few of you out there with some interest in this?
