Peak files generating WITHOUT PRIORITY!!!!!

When having problems with peak files, it is sometimes necessary to delete all peak files. Every time I reopen my project, I find that Premiere Pro makes a big mistake when re-rendering the Peak files. Namely, the peak files are (apparently) rendered without any sort of priorities being set. This can sometimes lead to very long hold times while waiting for the peak files of the clips in the timeline to be rendered.

In my experience and opinion the peak files of the files in the timeline should ALWAYS be prioritized. In general, peak file generation should be "dynamic" and always prioritize the clips that are currently in demand (for example, when I bring up a clip in the source monitor, the corresponding clip should move to the next possible position in the render queue).

I believe that the usability could be significantly improved by the proposed changes.

I'm working on a feature project where we have over ten cameras where the timecode is way off, so i have to sync by waveform first. Since we have tons of other media, it's taking waveforms over 20 minutes to build. PLEASE have Premiere prioritize waveforms for the audio tracks IN THE CURRENT TIMELINE.

I have been waiting about 30 minutes to edit a music track into my timeline because Premiere is busy generating a peak file that I do not need whatsoever. It is for the camera scratch audio on an hour-long clip - I'm using separately-recorded sound, so this waveform is entirely useless to me. In addition to prioritizing peak file generation, as the OP suggests, I would also love to be able to right-click on the peak file generation bar and choose to SKIP a peak file that I don't need so I can get back to work.

Also, when I go to Clip > Generate Audio Waveform, Premiere should IMMEDIATELY generate the peak file for the clip I've requested, pausing or just skipping whatever peak file it's currently working on.

There's an AUDIO Preference to Generate waveforms on import. If you turn that off, you can import and then use Clip/Generate Waveform, on that clip you chose.

This doesn't stop the conforming process. I applied this in settings, quit and reopened, and the peak files continue to process in the bottom right before my waveforms are created.

Sorry, I wasn't clear... the process was happening in the program (as showing in the bottom right), but in the sequence the waveforms weren't visible.

Thank you MyerPJ, this setting is good to know about.

I still think it would be great to be able to have this setting on - have waveforms generate automatically upon import - and be able to immediately generate a waveform that I need now, skipping over one that I don't need.

I think you are right about that, there should be priority to any clips dropped onto the timeline.
